6 Reasons Pakistani Families Choose Yangtze University

Yangtze University offers Pakistani families a PMDC-recognised, Affordable-tier MBBS backed by a Clinical Medicine discipline in the ESI global top 1% and two large teaching hospitals in Jingzhou. Here are six reasons families choose it, each weighed against the risk of choosing wrong.

1

A degree PMDC recognises, so the NLE stays open

A foreign MBBS that PMDC does not recognise leaves your child unable to sit the NLE and shut out of practice in Pakistan. Yangtze University Medical School sits on the PMDC list of recognised foreign institutions, verified on 01 June 2026 at pmdc.pk, so your child returns home eligible for Pakistan’s National Licensing Examination. MTZ re-checks this listing before placing every student.

2

Clinical Medicine in the ESI global top 1%

Choose a university with no measurable research standing and your child’s degree competes from behind in licensing and postgraduate applications. Yangtze University places Clinical Medicine in the Essential Science Indicators (ESI) global top 1%, one of eight Yangtze disciplines to reach that mark. Your child studies medicine inside a discipline that ranks among the strongest worldwide by citation.

3

Over 6,000 hospital beds across two Grade III Class A hospitals

Clinical years spent in a small hospital with few patients leave your child short of the bedside volume that licensing exams test. Yangtze University runs two directly affiliated Grade III Class A teaching hospitals, Jingzhou First People’s Hospital and Jingzhou Central Hospital, holding over 6,000 beds between them, with 87 clinical departments at the First Affiliated Hospital alone. Your child rotates through high-volume tertiary wards across two hospital campuses.

4

An Affordable-tier MBBS your family can sustain for six years

A degree your family cannot fund across six years risks a mid-course withdrawal that wastes every rupee already spent. Yangtze University sits in MTZ’s Affordable tier: Year 1 tuition is CNY 12,800 and CNY 20,000 in each later year, with an on-campus hostel at CNY 2,400 a year. Your child finishes a six-year MBBS on a budget your family can plan from the first year.

5

Final-year internship in Pakistan, with Year 6 fees waived

A final internship year locked to China adds another year of overseas cost and keeps your child far from family at the close of the degree. Yangtze University allows the Year 6 internship in Pakistan, and where your child takes that route the university waives its Year 6 tuition and hostel, confirmed by MTZ with the university and subject to the university’s current policy. Your child finishes clinical training closer to home and at lower cost.

6

2,500+ international students and halal food in Jingzhou

A campus new to hosting South Asian students can leave your child isolated, far from halal food and a familiar community. Yangtze University already hosts 2,500+ international students from 55 countries, and its dining hall serves halal food for Muslim students. Your child arrives into a settled international community in Jingzhou, a historic Yangtze river city in Hubei.

Can Your Child Apply for MBBS at Yangtze University?

Yangtze University sets its own entry requirements, and PMDC sets additional conditions for Pakistani students. Both apply. The table below covers the university-specific requirements. Confirm PMDC’s current MDCAT requirement at pmdc.pk before applying.

Academic Requirements (Yangtze University-Specific)

FSc Pre-Medical

Minimum 60% in FSc Pre-Medical for MBBS eligibility at Yangtze University. MTZ confirms each applicant’s standing with the university at application

MDCAT (PMDC condition)

Minimum 50% in MDCAT, the PMDC condition for Pakistani students applying for MBBS abroad. Confirm the current MDCAT requirement at pmdc.pk before applying

English

The MBBS is bilingual, English plus Chinese. No IELTS or TOEFL is stated as mandatory; Yangtze University may interview applicants with lower marks

HSK-4

Your child must reach HSK Level 4 by the end of Year 1 to progress into the clinical years at Yangtze University

CSCA exam

The CSCA exam is a mandatory admission requirement at Yangtze University. Your child must pass CSCA by the end of Year 1, alongside HSK-4, to enter the medicine years

Physical and Medical Requirements

Yangtze University requires your child to submit a completed physical examination form and a police character certificate with the application, and to pass the medical check carried out on arrival in Jingzhou as part of the residence permit process. Your child must be medically fit to undertake the six-year MBBS and its clinical rotations across Yangtze University’s two affiliated teaching hospitals.

What MTZ Verifies Before Submitting Your Application

Before MTZ submits your child’s file to Yangtze University, MTZ checks that the Matric and FSc marksheets and certificates meet the 60% FSc bar, that MDCAT meets the PMDC 50% condition, and that the passport, photographs, physical examination form and police character certificate are complete and correctly attested. MTZ re-verifies Yangtze University’s PMDC listing at pmdc.pk and confirms the Year 1 fee and intake dates in writing with your family before any payment.

CSCA exam, plan it early. At Yangtze University your child sits the CSCA exam during the first academic year and must pass it, with HSK-4, before entering the clinical years. CSCA covers core pre-medical science subjects; confirm the exact subject list, the current sitting dates, and registration through the official portal at csca.cn before the September intake closes. MTZ guides your child on CSCA timing so the exam is registered and sat early enough to protect clinical progression, and briefs your family on the consequence of not passing within Year 1. Booking late risks missing a sitting and delaying entry into the medicine years.

Your child must reach HSK Level 4 in Year 1 to progress to clinical years. This is a language proficiency requirement, not optional. MTZ briefs every student and family on this before any commitment is made.

How MTZ Applies Pakistani Students to Yangtze University

The steps below cover the Yangtze University application only. For the full general MBBS application process for China, see our complete guide at /mbbs-in-china/.

Step 1

Eligibility check and document collection

MTZ confirms your child meets the 60% FSc and 50% MDCAT bars, then collects the Matric and FSc marksheets and certificates, passport, photographs, physical examination form and police character certificate.

Step 2

Register and plan the CSCA exam (mandatory, before other steps proceed)

This step is mandatory and is resolved before the application proceeds. Because Yangtze University requires the CSCA exam in Year 1, MTZ helps your child register for CSCA through the official portal at csca.cn and plans the sitting date early, so CSCA and HSK-4 can both be cleared inside the first academic year. Your child’s place in the medicine years depends on passing this exam, so it is settled at the outset, not left to the end.

Step 3

Application form and university submission

MTZ completes the Yangtze University application form and submits your child’s file to the international admissions office in Jingzhou.

Step4

Pre-Admission Notice and application fee

On a successful review, Yangtze University issues the Pre-Admission Notice. The CNY 1,000 application fee is paid at this stage, and MTZ confirms the figure with your family in writing first.

Step 5

Admission Letter

Yangtze University issues the official Admission Letter for the six-year MBBS, naming the September intake.

Step 6

JW202 form

Yangtze University issues the JW202 form, which your child needs for the X1 Student Visa application.

Step 7

X1 Student Visa application

Your child applies for the X1 Student Visa at the Chinese embassy or consulate, submitting the Admission Letter, JW202, MoFA-attested academic documents, apostilled police character certificate and FRC, and the sponsor bank statement with a minimum balance of PKR 5 million.

Step 8

Pre-departure briefing and travel

MTZ briefs your child and family on Jingzhou, the HSK-4 and CSCA timeline, halal food, hostel selection and the arrival charges, then confirms travel to China.

Step 9

Arrival, registration and on-campus settlement

MTZ arranges airport pickup. On arrival your child pays the CNY 2,100 arrival charge and the hostel fee within three days, completes the medical check and residence permit registration, and begins the Year 1 Chinese language, HSK-4 and CSCA programme.

Where Can Your Child Practise After MBBS from Yangtze University?

Yangtze University’s PMDC recognition and its listing in the World Directory of Medical Schools open licensing pathways for Pakistani families. The three most relevant are covered below. For the full country-by-country comparison across all 29 MTZ universities, see /mbbs-china-licensing/.

MOE Listed vs Non-MOE Listed Universities: Which Suits You?

The 29 PMDC-approved Chinese medical universities where MTZ places Pakistani students split into two categories. Understanding the difference is the single most important decision a Pakistani family makes after committing to MBBS in China.

NMC India and BMDC Bangladesh apply to those countries’ students only. Pakistani students are unaffected by NMC or BMDC, because PMDC recognises both MOE-listed and Non-MOE listed universities.

Where Yangtze University Sits
Yangtze University is Non-MOE listed. Your child studies a bilingual MBBS, clears HSK-4 and the CSCA exam in Year 1, and finishes on an Affordable-tier budget, while keeping the same PMDC recognition and WDOMS-based international pathways the MOE-listed universities carry.

Refund Policy and Risk Flags: Read Before You Pay

Every family needs to understand what is refundable and what is not before any payment is made to Yangtze University or to MTZ.

Refund Policy

Application fee (CNY 1,000)

Non-refundable once the Pre-Admission Notice is issued

Tuition fee

Paid directly to Yangtze University after arrival in China; refund follows the university’s own policy, confirmed by MTZ in writing before payment

Hostel deposit

Paid to Yangtze University on arrival; deposit treatment follows the university’s policy, confirmed by MTZ before payment

X1 visa rejection

If the X1 visa is refused, MTZ explains which paid amounts can and cannot be recovered before your family commits

MTZ service fee

Staged as advance, on admission letter, and on JW202; the schedule is set out in writing before any payment

Risk Flags MTZ Issues Before You Commit

Age Limit

Yangtze University accepts MBBS applicants aged 17 to 25 years. MTZ checks your child’s date of birth against this range before applying, so an age issue is caught early, not after fees are paid.

Application Deadline

The application deadline for the September intake is 23 June, and it may be extended, so it should never be relied on as guaranteed open. The intake also closes once seats fill. A late file risks missing the intake altogether. MTZ lodges complete applications early to protect your child’s place.

Document Quality

Missing MoFA attestation or apostille on the academic documents, police character certificate or FRC delays or derails the visa. MTZ checks every document before submission so a paperwork gap does not cost your child the intake.

PMDC List Changes

PMDC recognition lists are updated periodically. MTZ re-verifies Yangtze University’s listing at pmdc.pk before placing your child, so your family acts on the current position, not an old screenshot.

CSCA and HSK-4 deadline within Year 1

Your child must pass both the CSCA exam and HSK-4 before the end of Year 1 to enter the medicine years. Booking either exam late risks missing a sitting and delaying clinical progression. MTZ plans the CSCA and HSK-4 timeline with your child from the start so both are cleared inside the first year.

Scholarships for MBBS Students at Yangtze University

Read this section carefully before any agent tells you a scholarship is guaranteed. MTZ’s position on scholarships is stated below in full. It does not change based on what you want to hear.

Some partner universities offer merit-based awards to high-performing MBBS students from their second year, based on academic performance — these are the university’s independent decisions and are not guaranteed at admission. MTZ Global Visa Consultants does not assure or guarantee scholarships for MBBS study in China. For fully funded MS and PhD scholarships, see our Global Scholarships hub.

Yangtze University scholarship streams (factual, not guaranteed):

What MTZ Will Not Promise for Yangtze University

CEO Mubbashir Qureshi brings 25+ years of personal experience to every application MTZ handles. We have seen what happens when consultants overpromise. Here is our position, in writing.

What MTZ Will Not Do

Admission is never guaranteed. Yangtze University decides every application on its own merits, and MTZ states this before your family commits.
No fixed PKR cost is promised, because the CNY to PKR rate moves across a six-year degree and only the CNY figures are set by the university.
Your child’s academic results are theirs to earn. MTZ cannot promise grades, distinctions, or a smooth pass through the medicine years.
Scholarships are never assured. Any Yangtze University merit award is the university’s independent decision, not an MTZ promise.
HSK-4 and the CSCA exam must be passed by your child inside Year 1. MTZ cannot promise a pass, only proper preparation and timing.
PMDC policy can change. MTZ does not promise that today’s recognition position will stay fixed, which is why it is re-verified before every placement.
Visa approval and its timing rest with the Chinese mission. MTZ cannot promise an issue date for the X1 Student Visa.
Clinical placement quality follows Yangtze University’s own hospital allocation. MTZ does not promise a specific ward, rotation order, or hospital.

What MTZ Commits To

Verifying Yangtze University’s PMDC listing at pmdc.pk before placing your child, every time.
A full written fee breakdown in CNY and indicative PKR reaches your family before any payment is requested.
Planning the six-year cost with you so the degree is reachable from Year 1, not a figure that surprises you in Year 3.
Where an X1 visa is refused, MTZ explains the resubmission position and which amounts can be recovered before your family commits.
Briefing your child on the HSK-4 and CSCA timeline early, so both gates are cleared inside the first year.
MTZ never places students at unverified universities. Yangtze University is on the PMDC recognised list, checked before placement.

Yangtze University: Campus and City

Where your child studies shapes the full 6-year experience. Here is exactly what the Yangtze University campus and the city of Jingzhou look like on the ground.

The Campus

Yangtze University is a public provincial university formed in 2003 from the merger of four Jingzhou institutions, with a medical teaching heritage going back to 1951. Its main campus sits in Jingzhou, Hubei, on the bank of the Yangtze River, across a large landscaped site recognised as a Hubei garden-style campus. Your child studies on a campus with science laboratories, a medical library, sports facilities including a stadium and swimming pool, and the international student dormitory, with the medicine teaching grouped under the university’s Medical School and its clinical colleges.
Yangtze University places Clinical Medicine in the Essential Science Indicators global top 1%, one of eight Yangtze disciplines to reach that mark, so your child learns inside a measurably strong medical faculty rather than an untested programme. The two directly affiliated teaching hospitals in Jingzhou give the clinical years their bedside volume.

The City, Jingzhou, Hubei

Jingzhou is a historic city on the middle reaches of the Yangtze River, a cradle of Chu culture with more than two thousand years of recorded history and the well-known Jingzhou Ancient City wall at its centre. The city is mid-sized by Chinese standards, calmer and lower in cost than Wuhan or the tier-1 cities, which suits a family settling a child in for a six-year degree.
For Pakistani families the practical points are climate, transport and pace. The climate is humid subtropical in the mild to moderate band: hot humid summers and cool damp winters, so your child packs light cottons for summer and a warm coat for winter. Transport runs on city buses, DiDi and taxis, and Jingzhou railway station connects to Wuhan in about two hours and onward across the national high-speed network, with Wuhan Tianhe International Airport the main long-haul gateway for flights to and from Pakistan. The campus halal canteen and the Muslim community in the city cover day-to-day food and prayer needs.

“Yangtze University is not recognised by PMDC”

“The MBBS is not in English, you must learn Mandarin instead”

The Yangtze University MBBS is bilingual: lectures are delivered in English, and Chinese is built in because your child takes histories from Chinese patients on the wards. HSK-4 is the language gate in Year 1, not a switch to fully Mandarin teaching.

“Chinese MBBS degrees are not accepted anywhere outside Pakistan”

Yangtze University is listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools, which underpins eligibility for the USMLE, PLAB and UKMLA, AMC, MCCQE and the Gulf examinations. Your child’s degree opens routes well beyond Pakistan, subject to each authority’s own criteria.

“Jingzhou is too extreme for Pakistani students”

Jingzhou has a humid subtropical climate in the mild to moderate band, with hot summers and cool, not severe, winters. Your child faces nothing like the deep cold of the far north, and the city’s halal food and Muslim community make daily life manageable.

“You can get MBBS in China cheaply without MDCAT”

MDCAT is a PMDC condition for Pakistani students, and skipping it puts your child’s NLE eligibility at risk on return. Yangtze University also expects the FSc minimum. A cut-price route that ignores MDCAT is a route that can cost your child the licence.

“MTZ guarantees admission to Yangtze University”

MTZ guarantees no admission anywhere. Yangtze University decides each application on its merits, and MTZ states this in writing before your family commits. Any agent promising guaranteed admission is not telling you the truth.

“There is no CSCA exam at Yangtze, you go straight into medicine”

Yangtze University requires your child to pass the CSCA exam, with HSK-4, before the end of Year 1 to enter the medicine years. Treating CSCA as optional risks your child’s clinical progression. MTZ plans the CSCA timeline from the start.

Q4. Does Yangtze University require IELTS for Pakistani students?

No. Yangtze University does not require IELTS or TOEFL from Pakistani students for the MBBS. Your child still needs the FSc Pre-Medical minimum of 60% and the PMDC MDCAT condition of 50%, and Yangtze University may interview applicants with lower marks.

Q5. What is the intake date for MBBS at Yangtze University?

The main intake is September. The application deadline is 23 June and may be extended, but the intake also closes once seats fill, so your child should apply early. MTZ lodges complete files ahead of the rush to protect your child’s place.

Q6. What is the difference between MOE-listed and Non-MOE universities, and which is Yangtze University?

MOE-listed universities run an English-medium MBBS, while Non-MOE listed universities run a bilingual MBBS with HSK-4 required before the clinical years. Yangtze University is Non-MOE listed. Both categories are PMDC recognised, so your child stays eligible for the NLE either way; the practical difference is the language gate and, at Yangtze, the CSCA exam in Year 1.

Q7. Is Yangtze University safe for Pakistani female students?

Yes. Yangtze University houses female international students in a separate girls’ hostel with controlled dormitory access and campus security, in Jingzhou, a calm mid-sized city. MTZ confirms your daughter’s dormitory allocation in writing before she travels and keeps a direct contact line for your family throughout the degree.

Q8. What is the NLE and does it apply to Yangtze University graduates?

The NLE is Pakistan’s National Licensing Examination, which a foreign medical graduate must pass to register and practise in Pakistan. Because Yangtze University Medical School is on the PMDC recognised list, your child is eligible to sit the NLE on return after completing the MBBS.

Q9. How many Pakistani students are currently studying at Yangtze University?

Yangtze University hosts over 2,500 international students from 55 countries, including a Pakistani cohort, so your child arrives into a settled community rather than studying in isolation. MTZ can share current details of the Pakistani student group at Yangtze University on request.

Q10. Does MTZ charge for the eligibility check?

MTZ assesses your child’s eligibility for Yangtze University before any service fee is committed, and sets out the full fee schedule in writing before your family pays anything. No payment is made to the university or to MTZ without written confirmation first.

Q11. What is the CSCA exam at Yangtze University and is it mandatory?

The CSCA exam is a mandatory admission requirement at Yangtze University: your child must pass both the CSCA exam and HSK-4 before the end of the first academic year to progress into the medicine years, confirmed in Yangtze University’s admission terms. CSCA covers core pre-medical science subjects. Sitting dates run on a set schedule across the year, so your child should register and sit early, and the last practical sitting before the September intake must be cleared inside Year 1. Your child registers for CSCA through the official portal at csca.cn, and MTZ plans the timing so CSCA and HSK-4 are both cleared before the medicine study begins. A student who does not pass may continue language and CSCA preparation, transfer, or withdraw.

Q12. What HSK level does Yangtze University require and when?

Yangtze University requires your child to reach HSK Level 4 by the end of Year 1, alongside the CSCA exam, to enter the clinical years. HSK-4 is a Chinese language proficiency level that lets your child take patient histories on the wards. MTZ briefs every student and family on the HSK-4 timeline before any commitment is made.

Q13. Can my child do the final internship year in Pakistan?

Yes. Yangtze University allows the Year 6 internship to be completed in Pakistan, and where your child takes that route the university waives its Year 6 tuition and hostel, confirmed by MTZ with the university and subject to the university’s current policy. Living costs are not erased, and MTZ confirms the current position in writing before your family relies on it.
