WCAME
Working Committee for Accreditation of Medical Education, China
China’s medical accreditation under WCAME is recognised by WFME, which supports international licensing applications for Wuhan University of Science and Technology graduates.
6 Reasons Pakistani Families Choose Wuhan University of Science and Technology
Wuhan University of Science and Technology is a Non-MOE listed public university in Wuhan whose Clinical Medicine discipline sits in the Essential Science Indicators global top 1%. These six points set out what that standing means for your child.
1
Clinical Medicine in the Essential Science Indicators Global Top 1%
A medical programme with no measurable research standing leaves your child taught by a faculty that publishes little and sits outside the global science indices. Wuhan University of Science and Technology places its Clinical Medicine discipline in the Essential Science Indicators global top 1%, the band that marks the most-cited disciplines worldwide, so your child trains under a research-active faculty rather than one with no international footprint.
2
A Clinical Medicine Major That Cleared China’s MOE Professional Certification
Enrol your child in a programme that never cleared national accreditation and the degree carries a question mark into every licensing application. Wuhan University of Science and Technology has passed China’s Ministry of Education professional certification for its Clinical Medicine major, and that major is a national first-class undergraduate major construction point, which tells your family the programme met the national quality bar even though the university is Non-MOE listed.
3
Twelve Affiliated Teaching Hospitals Across Wuhan
Tie a medical school to one small hospital and your child loses rotation breadth, and a borrowed teaching hospital can end the arrangement before the clinical years begin. Wuhan University of Science and Technology runs its clinical teaching across 12 affiliated teaching hospitals in and around Wuhan, so your child rotates through a wide patient base instead of a single ward.
4
Tuition That Holds Below CNY 22,000 Every Year
Many bilingual programmes advertise a low first-year fee, then lift tuition once your child is committed and cannot move without losing credits. Wuhan University of Science and Technology sets tuition at CNY 13,000 in Year 1 and CNY 18,000 from Year 2 to Year 6, a figure that stays below CNY 22,000 in every year, so your family plans against one steady number for the full bilingual degree.
5
HSK-4 Built Into Year 1, Before the Wards
Reach the clinical years without real Chinese and your child stands at the bedside unable to take a history from a patient. Wuhan University of Science and Technology builds HSK-4 into the first year as the gate to clinical progression, so your child clears the language bar before ward rotations begin rather than struggling through them.
6
International MBBS Running Since 2015, With Graduates in Practice
Send your child into a brand-new international programme with no graduates and there is no track record to judge it by. Wuhan University of Science and Technology traces its medical teaching to 1958 and has enrolled international MBBS students since 2015, and its early cohorts have already graduated and entered practice, so your child joins a programme with a documented output, not an experiment.

Exchange Rate Notice, Read Before Budgeting
The CNY-PKR rate moves week to week. The two MTZ statements below set the budgeting rule and the payment-day reconfirmation step Pakistani families must read before paying anything.
Exchange Rate Notice — Read Before Budgeting
For budgeting and financial planning, MTZ advises families to use a conservative rate of PKR 42 to PKR 45 per CNY to account for exchange rate movement over the 6-year degree.
PKR figures above are indicative only, calculated at 1 CNY = PKR 40. The actual PKR cost on the date of payment depends on the prevailing CNY-PKR exchange rate. The CNY-PKR rate fluctuates. MTZ will provide the exact PKR figure at the time of application based on the rate on that date. WhatsApp MTZ Islamabad or Lahore for the current PKR breakdown before making any payment decision.

Compulsory internship-in-Pakistan note (R16j): The final internship-year university tuition and hostel may be reduced or removed if your child completes the internship in Pakistan, conditional on Wuhan University of Science and Technology’s current policy. This policy is confirmed in writing by MTZ for your child’s intake before any payment.
Can Your Child Apply for MBBS at Wuhan University of Science and Technology?
Wuhan University of Science and Technology sets its own entry requirements, and PMDC sets additional conditions for Pakistani students. Both apply. The table below covers the university-specific requirements. Confirm PMDC’s current MDCAT requirement at pmdc.pk before applying.
Academic Requirements (Wuhan University of Science and Technology-Specific)
Minimum 60%, with a pass in English and Biology
17 to 25 years at the point of application
Not required by Wuhan University of Science and Technology
PMDC requires a minimum of 50% in MDCAT for your child to study MBBS abroad and return to practise in Pakistan.
Reach HSK Level 4 in Year 1 to progress to the clinical years.
Wuhan University of Science and Technology requires your child to submit a medical fitness certificate on the official Chinese physical examination form, confirming fitness for the full 6-year programme. On arrival in Wuhan, your child completes a medical check at a designated centre before on-campus registration. Conditions that prevent clinical training, declared honestly at application, let MTZ raise them with Wuhan University of Science and Technology early rather than at the border.
MTZ pre-screens your child’s FSc percentage against Wuhan University of Science and Technology’s 60% minimum, checks the MDCAT 50% PMDC condition, confirms age falls within 17 to 25, and assembles the exact document set Wuhan University of Science and Technology asks for. MTZ submits only once every field clears, so your child’s file does not bounce back from the university for a missing certificate or an unattested document.
Your child must reach HSK Level 4 in Year 1 to progress to clinical years. This is a language proficiency requirement, not optional. MTZ briefs every student and family on this before any commitment is made.
How MTZ Applies Pakistani Students to Wuhan University of Science and Technology
The steps below cover the Wuhan University of Science and Technology application only. For the full general MBBS application process for China, see our complete guide at /mbbs-in-china/.
Step 1
Eligibility Check and Document Pre-Screen
Before anything is sent, MTZ confirms your child meets Wuhan University of Science and Technology’s 60% FSc minimum, the PMDC MDCAT 50% condition, and the 17 to 25 age range. This screen catches a shortfall while it can still be fixed.
Step 2
Assemble the Wuhan University of Science and Technology Application File
MTZ collects the application form, SSC and HSSC mark sheets, passport copy, one white-background photograph, the Chinese physical examination form, a police clearance certificate, and the guardian’s bank statement. Each document is checked against the university’s own list.
Step 3
Submit the Application and Pay the Application Fee
MTZ lodges the file with Wuhan University of Science and Technology and pays the CNY 1,000 application fee on your family’s instruction. The fee is one-time and non-refundable.
Step4
University Review and Conditional Offer
Wuhan University of Science and Technology reviews your child’s academic record and documents, then issues a pre-admission or conditional offer. MTZ tracks the file and answers any query the university raises.
Step 5
Admission Notice and JW202 Issued
Wuhan University of Science and Technology is Non-MOE listed. The university issues your child’s Admission Notice and JW202 form, the two documents the Chinese embassy needs for the X1 Student Visa.
Step 6
X1 Student Visa Application
With the Admission Notice, JW202, and bank statement, your child applies for the X1 Student Visa at the Chinese embassy in Islamabad. MTZ prepares the visa file and briefs your child on the interview.
Step 7
Pre-Departure and Travel
Once the visa is stamped, MTZ books the hostel allocation at Wuhan University of Science and Technology, arranges the airport transfer to Wuhan at no extra charge, and gives your family a pre-departure checklist.
Step 8
Arrival, Registration and the Year 1 Language Year
On campus, your child completes the arrival medical check, the residence permit, and university registration, then begins the Year 1 Chinese language study that leads to HSK-4 before the clinical years.
For the full general process for Pakistani families, see the MBBS in China application guide for Pakistan.
Where Can Your Child Practise After MBBS from Wuhan University of Science and Technology?
Wuhan University of Science and Technology is PMDC-approved and listed in the WHO World Directory of Medical Schools. These recognitions set the licensing pathways open to your child, covered below. For the full country-by-country comparison across all 29 MTZ universities, see /mbbs-china-licensing/.
PMDC Recognition and NLE Pathway (Pakistan)
Wuhan University of Science and Technology is recognised by PMDC for MBBS, so your child can sit the National Licensing Examination on return and register to practise in Pakistan. PMDC’s MDCAT 50% condition and the NLE both apply. MTZ re-verifies the PMDC list before placing every student.

WDOMS Listing (World Directory of Medical Schools)
Wuhan University of Science and Technology is listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools. This listing confirms the medical school and its programme appear on the official directory that international licensing bodies consult, which is the entry point most overseas medical councils check first.

ECFMG Eligibility (USA Pathway)
Wuhan University of Science and Technology’s WDOMS listing supports your child’s eligibility to apply to ECFMG for the United States pathway, subject to ECFMG’s own current requirements. ECFMG eligibility opens the USMLE route; it does not by itself grant a licence, which each medical board issues on its own terms.
MOE Listed vs Non-MOE Listed Universities: Which Suits You?
The 29 PMDC-approved Chinese medical universities where MTZ places Pakistani students split into two categories. Understanding the difference is the single most important decision a Pakistani family makes after committing to MBBS in China.
| Factor | MOE-Listed 13 | Non-MOE Listed (16) |
|---|---|---|
| Medium of instruction | English-medium MBBS | Bilingual: English plus Chinese |
| HSK-4 requirement | Not generally required for English-medium study | Required before clinical years |
| Annual cost (PKR, indicative) | Higher band, often PKR 1.3 million and above | Lower band, often below PKR 1 million |
| PMDC recognition pathway | Recognised (Yes) | Recognised (Yes) |
| USMLE / ECFMG | Eligible | Eligible (per WDOMS listing) |
| PLAB / UKMLA (UK) | Eligible | Eligible |
| AMC (Australia) | Eligible | Eligible |
| MCCQE (Canada) | Eligible | Eligible |
| DHA / MOHAP / DOH (UAE) | Eligible | Eligible |
| GCC licensing | Eligible | Eligible |
| NMC India / BMDC Bangladesh | Applies to those countries’ students | Many Non-MOE not listed for India / Bangladesh |
| Typical student profile | Family prioritising English-medium delivery and higher international ranking | Family prioritising lower cost who accept learning Chinese for clinical years |
| MTZ recommendation | Choose if budget allows and English-medium is the priority | Choose if cost is the deciding factor and your child will commit to HSK-4 |
NMC India and BMDC Bangladesh apply to those countries’ students only. Pakistani students are unaffected by NMC or BMDC. PMDC recognises both MOE listed and Non-MOE listed universities.
Wuhan University of Science and Technology is Non-MOE listed. Your child studies the bilingual MBBS, clears HSK-4 in Year 1 for the clinical years, and qualifies under PMDC recognition for the NLE pathway in Pakistan.

Refund Policy and Risk Flags: Read Before You Pay
Every family needs to understand what is refundable and what is not before any payment is made to Wuhan University of Science and Technology or to MTZ.
Refund Policy
Application fee
Non-refundable once the application is submitted to Wuhan University of Science and Technology
Tuition fee
Paid on arrival in CNY. Refund follows the university’s own withdrawal policy for the academic year
Hostel deposit

X1 visa rejection
MTZ guides reapplication. University-paid amounts follow the university refund policy; MTZ explains the position in writing before you pay
MTZ service fee
Terms set out in your written MTZ agreement before any payment
Risk Flags MTZ Issues Before You Commit
Age Limit
Wuhan University of Science and Technology applies a 17 to 25 age range. Apply too late and your child can age out of eligibility, so confirm the date of birth against the range before building the file.
Application Deadline
The September intake closes on 15 August 2026, or earlier once the 60 seats fill. Leave the application to the last weeks and your child can miss the intake entirely, so MTZ lodges complete files early.
Document Quality
A blurred scan, an unattested certificate, or a mismatched name delays or sinks an application. MTZ checks every document against the university’s list before submission so the file does not bounce back.
PMDC List Changes
PMDC updates its recognised foreign institutions list periodically. A university recognised today can change status, so MTZ re-verifies Wuhan University of Science and Technology on the PMDC list at pmdc.pk before placing every student.
Scholarships for MBBS Students at Wuhan University of Science and Technology
Read this section carefully before any agent tells you a scholarship is guaranteed. MTZ’s position on scholarships is stated below in full. It does not change based on what you want to hear.
Some partner universities offer merit-based awards to high-performing MBBS students from their second year, based on academic performance — these are the university’s independent decisions and are not guaranteed at admission. MTZ Global Visa Consultants does not assure or guarantee scholarships for MBBS study in China. For fully funded MS and PhD scholarships, see our Global Scholarships hub.
Wuhan University of Science and Technology scholarship streams (factual, not guaranteed):

What MTZ Will Not Promise for Wuhan University of Science and Technology
CEO Mubbashir Qureshi brings 25+ years of personal experience to every application MTZ handles. We have seen what happens when consultants overpromise. Here is our position, in writing.
What MTZ Will Not Do
Admission to Wuhan University of Science and Technology is never promised before the university issues its own decision on your child’s file.
Exact PKR costs cannot be fixed in advance, because the CNY to PKR rate moves across the 6-year degree.
No one can promise your child a distinction or a top rank; academic performance rests on your child’s own work.
Scholarships are never guaranteed. Any merit award comes from the second year onward, on the university’s independent decision.
PMDC policy can change, so MTZ will not promise that today’s recognition or MDCAT rule stays fixed for six years.
Visa timelines sit with the Chinese embassy, and MTZ will not promise a guaranteed issue date for the X1 visa.
Clinical placement quality is not dressed up; your child rotates through the affiliated teaching hospitals as the university assigns.
What MTZ Commits To
MTZ re-verifies Wuhan University of Science and Technology on the PMDC list at pmdc.pk before placing your child.
You receive a written fee breakdown in CNY and indicative PKR before any payment is requested.
Every figure on this page is built so your family can plan the full 6-year cost, not just Year 1.
Should the X1 visa be refused, MTZ guides resubmission and explains the refund position in writing.
We place students only at verified, PMDC-recognised universities, never at an unverified institution.
Wuhan University of Science and Technology: Campus and City
Where your child studies shapes the full 6-year experience. Here is exactly what the Wuhan University of Science and Technology campus and the city of Wuhan look like on the ground.
The Campus
Wuhan University of Science and Technology runs across three campuses in Wuhan, and the medical teaching sits at the Huangjiahu campus on Huangjiahu West Road in Hongshan District, beside Huangjia Lake. Your child studies on a lakeside campus laid out as a garden-style site, with the medical faculty, laboratories and the international student dormitory on the same grounds. The university hosts about 35,000 full-time students across 23 schools, so your child joins a large public university, not a small standalone college. The Year 1 language study and the basic medical sciences run here before the clinical years move your child into the affiliated teaching hospitals.
The City: Wuhan, Hubei Province
Wuhan is the capital of Hubei and the largest city in central China, set where the Han River meets the Yangtze. Your child lives in a city of more than ten million people, served by Wuhan Tianhe International Airport with direct and one-stop routes that reach Pakistan, and by a dense metro network that links the campuses to the railway stations and the city centre. The climate is humid subtropical, with hot, humid summers and cool, damp winters, so your child packs light cottons for summer and a warm coat for winter. Wuhan’s settled Hui Muslim community supports halal restaurants and grocers across the city, and MTZ shares the nearest mosque to campus on arrival. East Lake, the Yellow Crane Tower and the riverside parks fill weekends without long travel.
Clearing Up Misinformation About MBBS at Wuhan University of Science and Technology
Incorrect information about MBBS at Wuhan University of Science and Technology circulates online and through unqualified agents. Read the facts.

“Wuhan University of Science and Technology is not recognised by PMDC”
Believe this and your child could walk away from a recognised university for no reason. Wuhan University of Science and Technology appears on the official PMDC recognised foreign institutions list for MBBS, verified at pmdc.pk on 1 June 2026.

“The MBBS at Wuhan University of Science and Technology is fully English”
Believe this and your child reaches the wards unable to speak to a single patient. The MBBS at Wuhan University of Science and Technology is not fully English. It is bilingual: lectures use English, and your child must reach HSK Level 4 in Year 1 to study the clinical years and take histories from Chinese patients.

“Chinese MBBS degrees are not accepted anywhere outside Pakistan”
Accept this and your child closes doors that are open. Wuhan University of Science and Technology is listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools, which supports applications to ECFMG for the United States and to other licensing bodies, each on its own terms.

“Wuhan is too extreme a city for Pakistani students”
Let this scare your family off and your child loses a strong option for a myth. Wuhan is central China’s largest city, with a humid subtropical climate, a full metro network, an international airport, and a settled Hui Muslim community already serving thousands of international and Muslim students.

“You can get MBBS in China cheaply without MDCAT”
Follow this and your child finishes the degree only to be blocked from practising in Pakistan. PMDC requires a minimum of 50% in MDCAT for any Pakistani student studying MBBS abroad, and that condition applies to a Wuhan University of Science and Technology applicant the same as to any other.

“MTZ guarantees admission to Wuhan University of Science and Technology”
Hear a guarantee like this and you are hearing an overpromise. MTZ never guarantees admission. Wuhan University of Science and Technology decides each application on its own merits, and MTZ states this in writing before your family commits.
