Is Jiangsu University MBBS Recognised?
Your child’s degree is only as valuable as the bodies that recognise it. Below is Jiangsu University’s verified recognition status as of May 2026. Every claim links to its official source.
IMPORTANT: PMDC recognition lists are updated periodically. MTZ re-verifies the PMDC list before placing every student. Always confirm current status at pmdc.pk before applying.
Jiangsu University School of Medicine appears on the live PMDC List of Recognized Foreign Institutions (Undergraduate) at pmdc.pk/Documents/Others/Listz.pdf. Entry reads: ‘Jiangsu University School of Medicine — Bachelor of Medicine in Clinical Medicine, MBBS.’ Verified 25 May 2026.
Jiangsu University is listed by China’s Ministry of Education as one of 45 medical schools authorised to deliver MBBS to international students. The JSU School of Medicine page states: ‘JSU is approved by Ministry of Education as one of the 45 medical schools for international medical education in China and the MBBS program of JSU-SOM has been certified with Excellent honor.’ Verified at yxy.ujs.edu.cn on 25 May 2026.
Jiangsu University School of Medicine is listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools maintained jointly by WFME and FAIMER, identifying it as a recognised medical school for international purposes. Search the directory at search.wdoms.org by institution name.
WFME recognises the China Working Committee on Accreditation of Medical Education (WCAME) as the national accrediting agency for medical schools in China. The MBBS programmes at all 45 MOE-listed schools, including Jiangsu University, fall under this WFME-recognised accreditation pathway.
The 2024 ECFMG requirement mandates that international medical graduates come from a school whose accrediting agency is recognised by WFME. WCAME’s WFME recognition means Jiangsu University graduates remain eligible to sit USMLE and pursue US residency.
The UK General Medical Council accepts overseas medical qualifications from schools listed in WDOMS. Jiangsu University graduates can sit the PLAB examination (now part of the Medical Licensing Assessment route) for UK provisional registration.
6 Reasons Pakistani Families Choose Jiangsu University
Jiangsu University sits in Zhenjiang on the south bank of the Yangtze River, holds Clinical Medicine in ESI’s global top 3 per thousand, and runs an MBBS programme certified Excellent by China’s Ministry of Education. The six reasons below explain what your family gains here that other Premium-tier campuses cannot match.
1
Clinical Medicine Ranked in the Global Top 3 per Thousand on ESI
Pick a Chinese medical campus without a verifiable research ranking and your child trains where outputs lag global standards, with weaker exposure to current science. Jiangsu University’s Clinical Medicine discipline sits in the Essential Science Indicators (ESI) top 3 per thousand globally, a position published on the JSU School of Medicine official page (yxy.ujs.edu.cn). Sixteen JSU disciplines fall inside the ESI global top 1%, four reach the top 1 per thousand. Your child studies inside the research culture, not parallel to it.
2
MBBS Programme Certified Excellent by China’s Ministry of Education
An MBBS programme that is merely ‘approved’ leaves your child with a degree that meets the floor but not the bar. Jiangsu University holds the MOE’s ‘Excellent’ honor for its English-medium MBBS, the highest published rating for international medical programmes in China, against the cohort of just 45 MOE-approved schools. The official designation appears on yxy.ujs.edu.cn. Your child finishes inside the top-rated layer of MOE-listed medicine.
3
Affiliated Hospital of Jiangsu University, 1,645 Grade III Level A Beds
A medical campus with a small affiliated hospital means short clinical exposure and few rotation slots, and your child arrives at internship under-prepared. Jiangsu University’s directly affiliated hospital, Jiangbin Hospital, operates 1,645 open beds across 39 clinical departments at the Grade III Level A (highest Chinese hospital classification), with over 1.7 million outpatient and emergency visits a year. Two National Key Clinical Specialties (Cardiology and Critical Care) and 23 Provincial Key Specialties run inside this hospital. Your child rotates through real patient volume, not classroom simulations.
4
A 13-Hospital Clinical Teaching Network Across Three Cities
One hospital, however large, limits the case mix your child sees during clinical years. Jiangsu University extends teaching across 1 directly affiliated hospital plus 12 non-affiliated teaching hospitals distributed across Jiangsu Province, Shanghai, and other cities (yxy.ujs.edu.cn). Zhenjiang First People’s Hospital, founded 1922 and recognised in the OEC partner list, adds another 1,000 beds with English-speaking nurses and doctors confirmed on oec.ujs.edu.cn. Your child rotates through urban tertiary care, provincial-capital volume, and metropolitan Shanghai exposure inside one degree.
5
Twenty Years of Pakistani-Compatible MBBS Delivery Since 2005
Newer international MBBS programmes ask your child to settle inside a campus that is still learning to host South Asian students. Jiangsu University has enrolled MBBS international students since 2005 (ujs.admissions.cn), with 400 international medical students at JSU-SOM today from over 50 countries. The OEC operates a dedicated international office, English-language admission portal at ju.17gz.org, on-arrival airport pickup, English-speaking hospital liaison, and a 24-hour international student helpline. Your child enters a system that has already absorbed 20 years of Pakistani student feedback.
6
Zhenjiang, A 700-Year-Old Yangtze Port City with Modern HSR Access
An MBBS campus stranded in a small remote city restricts your child’s wider exposure, travel options, and emergency family access. Jiangsu University sits in Zhenjiang on the south bank of the Yangtze River, where the river meets the Grand Canal of China. Zhenjiang Railway Station runs high-speed trains to Shanghai in under 70 minutes and to Nanjing in under 30 minutes, with both cities operating major international airports for direct Pakistan connections. Your child studies in a historic mid-sized city of about 3 million people with predictable safety and full HSR connectivity to the Yangtze Delta megacities.

Can Your Child Apply for MBBS at Jiangsu University?
Jiangsu University sets its own entry requirements, and PMDC sets additional conditions for Pakistani students. Both apply. The table below covers the Jiangsu University-specific requirements. Confirm PMDC’s current MDCAT requirement at pmdc.pk before applying.
Academic Requirements (Jiangsu University-Specific)
These are the academic conditions Jiangsu University itself requires in writing on its Eligibility and Requirements page at oec.ujs.edu.cn, plus the MDCAT and CSCA conditions that apply specifically to your child’s pathway.
Requirement
CSCA is Mandatory for Jiangsu University, Plan Early
Jiangsu University will not process your child’s application without a valid CSCA Transcript. The exam is administered centrally by the China Scholarship Council under China’s Ministry of Education at csca.cn (target=’_blank’ rel=’noopener noreferrer’).
Subjects (English-Taught MBBS at Jiangsu University): Mathematics, English, Biology, Chemistry, Physics. The Jiangsu University-specific subject list is published at oec.ujs.edu.cn/pdf/yingwenshoukeruxuekaoshikemu.pdf.
Sitting windows: January, March, April, June, and December each year. Results typically issued 3 to 4 weeks after the test sitting.
MTZ guidance on timing for the September 2026 intake:
Sit the CSCA exam
Allows 3 to 4 weeks for result issue before Jiangsu University deadline
Submit CSCA Transcript to Jiangsu University
Late transcripts will not be accepted for September 2026 intake
Final fall-back sitting
Cuts margin to under 2 weeks before transcript deadline. Risky. MTZ does NOT recommend
Deadline warning: Jiangsu University’s published CSCA Transcript deadline is 15 July 2026 for the September 2026 intake (oec.ujs.edu.cn Eligibility page). Pakistani students preparing for September 2026 intake should plan to register at csca.cn by end of February 2026 and sit no later than April 2026.
Physical and Medicments
Jiangsu University requires every Pakistani student to be physically and mentally healthy and to submit a completed Foreigner Physical Examination Form before admission, valid for 6 months from the date of examination (per oec.ujs.edu.cn Eligibility page). On arrival in Zhenjiang, your child completes a confirmatory medical check at the Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau (CNY 400, paid on site) and a separate residence permit medical at the Public Security Bureau. Hepatitis B carriers, students with active tuberculosis, and students with mental health conditions affecting study capacity are reviewed individually by the JSU School of Medicine before admission is confirmed.
What MTZ Verifies Before Submitting Your Application
MTZ Islamabad and Lahore offices complete a pre-submission audit for every Pakistani student applying to Jiangsu University. We confirm FSc transcript percentage against the PMDC 60% threshold, MDCAT score against the 50% threshold, age against the 18 to 25 window, IELTS or TOEFL or Duolingo score against the Jiangsu University minimum, CSCA registration status, and notarisation of every supporting document. We also pre-verify the financial statement format the Jiangsu University Overseas Education College will accept (parent income certificate, bank deposit certificate, or property certificate). If any item fails the pre-submission audit, MTZ holds the application and notifies your family in writing before any fee is paid.
How MTZ Applies Pakistani Students to Jiangsu University
The 9 steps below cover the Jiangsu University application only. For the full general MBBS application process for China including PMDC NOC and X1 visa steps that apply to every Chinese university, see our complete guide at /mbbs-in-china/.
Step 1
Eligibility Pre-Audit at MTZ
Your family submits FSc transcripts, MDCAT score, passport copy, and academic record to MTZ Islamabad (F-7 Markaz) or MTZ Lahore (Gulberg III) for a no-fee pre-audit. We confirm against Jiangsu University’s published thresholds at oec.ujs.edu.cn: 60% FSc, 50% MDCAT, age 18 to 25, IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL 80 or Duolingo 100. We also confirm that the parent’s income or bank certificate meets the Jiangsu University minimum equivalent of USD 5,000. Output: a written eligibility confirmation for your family before any fee is paid.
Step 2
CSCA Registration and Exam Sitting
This step is mandatory and must be completed before any other step proceeds. Jiangsu University does not review applications without a valid CSCA Transcript. Your child registers at csca.cn (the official China Scholarship Council CSCA portal, opens in a new tab with rel=noopener noreferrer), books a sitting in March or April 2026 for the September 2026 intake, and sits the exam in Mathematics, English, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics as listed for Jiangsu University English-Taught programmes at oec.ujs.edu.cn/pdf/yingwenshoukeruxuekaoshikemu.pdf. MTZ provides a CSCA preparation pack at registration and tracks your child’s result release date. Deadline for transcript submission to Jiangsu University: 15 July 2026 (oec.ujs.edu.cn Eligibility page). If this step is skipped or delayed, the application cannot proceed.
Step 3
Document Collation and Notarisation
MTZ collects every required Jiangsu University document and routes the originals through MOFA Islamabad attestation and IBCC equivalence where required. The required pack per oec.ujs.edu.cn: scanned passport bio page (6 months validity from enrolment), high school diploma original or notarised copy, high school transcripts original or notarised, IELTS/TOEFL/Duolingo score certificate, personal statement of 800 words minimum in English, completed Foreigner Physical Examination Form, financial statement minimum USD 5,000 equivalent, and valid Non-criminal Record certificate. MTZ Islamabad handles MOFA and IBCC routing internally. Output: a complete Jiangsu University-ready document pack.
Step4
Online Application Submission at admission.ujs.edu.cn
MTZ submits your child’s application through the Jiangsu University Online Application System at admission.ujs.edu.cn, the official portal listed at oec.ujs.edu.cn. The application fee is CNY 200 (non-refundable) paid via WeChat or Alipay at submission. MTZ handles the WeChat / Alipay payment on behalf of your family if your home account does not support cross-border CNY transactions. Once submitted, the application number is recorded in writing and shared with your family for verification.
Step 5
Initial Review by Jiangsu University Admission Office
The Jiangsu University Overseas Education College reviews the application package, the CSCA Transcript, and the supporting documents. The Vice Dean for International Affairs at JSU School of Medicine signs off on MBBS-track applicants. This review takes 7 to 10 working days per oec.ujs.edu.cn. MTZ monitors the application status daily and notifies your family the moment a status change appears in the Online Application System.
Step 6
Pre-Admission Letter and Reservation Fee Payment
Jiangsu University issues a Pre-Admission Letter to qualifying applicants. Your child pays the MBBS reservation fee of CNY 6,000 (non-refundable) within the deadline stated on the Pre-Admission Letter. This fee is deducted from the on-arrival fees, not added on top, per the Jiangsu University Application Procedure page. MTZ provides the official Bank of China remittance details (Account Name: Jiangsu University, Bank Account No.: 1104080509000000190, Bank of China Jiangsu University Branch) and confirms receipt to your family in writing before payment.
Step 7
Admission Letter and JW202 Form Issuance
After the reservation fee clears, the Overseas Education College releases your child’s official Admission Letter and Visa Application Form (JW202) by email. Jiangsu University is MOE-listed. A JW202 form is therefore required for your child’s X1 Student Visa application. Both documents must be printed in colour on A4 paper for the visa appointment. MTZ checks both documents on receipt against your child’s passport for name spelling, date of birth, and passport number consistency before any visa step.
Step 8
X1 Student Visa Application at the Chinese Embassy Islamabad
The full X1 Student Visa pack goes to the Chinese Visa Application Service Center (CVASC) Islamabad. Pack contents: original passport, the JW202 form, the Admission Letter, the completed visa form V.2013, two recent passport photographs, the Foreigner Physical Examination Form, and the visa fee. MTZ submits the pack on your child’s behalf where MTZ Islamabad holds the requisite authority letter, or accompanies your child to the CVASC if biometric submission is required. Standard processing: 4 to 7 working days. Output: passport with X1 Student Visa stamp.
Step 9
Pre-Departure Briefing and Arrival in Zhenjiang
MTZ runs a 2-hour pre-departure briefing with your child and one parent at the Islamabad or Lahore office before flight departure. Briefing covers: Zhenjiang weather and clothing for the September intake, halal food locations near campus, hostel check-in procedure at the JSU international dormitory, on-arrival medical check at the Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau (CNY 400 paid on site), residence permit application at the Zhenjiang Public Security Bureau (CNY 400), and the first-week orientation schedule. Flights route to Nanjing Lukou International Airport (NKG, approximately 70 km from campus) or Shanghai Pudong (PVG, approximately 250 km with HSR connection). MTZ-arranged airport transfer to the JSU campus is included at no charge.
Where Can Your Child Practise After MBBS from Jiangsu University?
Jiangsu University’s MOE-listed status and WFME-recognised accreditation pathway open licensing routes across multiple countries. The three most relevant for Pakistani families are covered below. For the full country-by-country comparison across all 29 MTZ universities, see our licensing pathways guide at /mbbs-china-licensing/.

Jiangsu University MOE-Listed Status
Jiangsu University holds China Ministry of Education listing as one of 45 approved medical schools for international medical education, and the JSU School of Medicine MBBS programme carries the MOE’s ‘Excellent’ certification (yxy.ujs.edu.cn). This listing places Jiangsu University inside the cohort whose graduates the WHO Directory of Medical Schools and the WFME-recognised accrediting agency WCAME publicly index, which is the precondition every major foreign licensing body checks first. Your child’s degree certificate will state ‘MBBS, Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery’ issued by Jiangsu University with the MOE stamp.

PMDC Recognition and NLE Pathway (Pakistan)
PMDC’s live recognised foreign institutions list includes ‘Jiangsu University School of Medicine, Bachelor of Medicine in Clinical Medicine, MBBS’ (verified 25 May 2026 at pmdc.pk). Your child returns to Pakistan after the 6-year MBBS, sits the National Licensing Examination (NLE) administered by PMDC, and on passing the NLE registers as a Medical Practitioner with PMDC to practise legally in Pakistan. Before the NLE, your child completes IBCC equivalence of the Jiangsu University degree certificate and MOFA attestation. MTZ handles the IBCC and MOFA routing inside Pakistan as part of post-graduation support, and provides NLE preparation guidance for graduates returning from Jiangsu University.

ECFMG Eligibility (USA Pathway)
Jiangsu University’s listing in the WHO Directory of Medical Schools and the WFME recognition of its accrediting agency (WCAME, the China Working Committee on Accreditation of Medical Education) support ECFMG eligibility for Jiangsu University graduates. The 2024 ECFMG requirement mandates that international medical graduates hold a degree from a medical school whose accrediting agency is WFME-recognised. WCAME’s WFME recognition means a Jiangsu University graduate can apply for ECFMG certification, sit the USMLE Step 1, Step 2 CK, and Step 3 examinations, and pursue US residency through the National Resident Matching Program. MTZ does not coach USMLE preparation directly, but Jiangsu University’s MOE-listed and WFME-pathway status keeps the US door open for your child if that becomes the post-graduation plan.
MOE Listed vs Non-MOE Listed Universities: Which Suits You?
The 29 PMDC-approved Chinese medical universities where MTZ places Pakistani students split into two categories. Understanding the difference is the single most important decision a Pakistani family makes after committing to MBBS in China.
| Factor | MOE Listed (13) | Non-MOE Listed (16) |
|---|---|---|
| Medium of instruction | Fully English-Taught MBBS across all 6 years | Bilingual: English in early years, Mandarin clinical case work in Years 3 to 6 |

| NMC India / BMDC Bangladesh (see footnote) | Often listed for Indian and Bangladeshi students | Often NOT listed for Indian and Bangladeshi students |
| Typical student profile | High MDCAT / high FSc Pakistani applicant prioritising English-medium clinical years, US/UK/Australia pathway optionality, and tier-1 Chinese teaching hospitals | Cost-conscious Pakistani family willing to take HSK-4 learning load in exchange for lower recurring tuition |
| MTZ recommendation | Stronger fit for Pakistani families targeting USA, UK, Australia, Canada, or returning to Pakistan with NLE plus international optionality | Stronger fit for Pakistani families on tight budget and committed to returning to Pakistan via NLE only |
| WHERE JIANGSU UNIVERSITY SITS | Jiangsu University is in this MOE-Listed column | — |
NMC India / BMDC Bangladesh apply to those countries’ students only. Pakistani students are unaffected by NMC / BMDC, PMDC recognises both MOE and non-MOE listed universities.

Life as a Pakistani Student at Jiangsu University
Zhenjiang sits on the south bank of the Yangtze River where the river meets the Grand Canal of China, a mid-sized city of about 3 million people with high-speed rail to Shanghai under 70 minutes and Nanjing under 30 minutes. Jiangsu University hosts 400 international medical students from over 50 countries on a single Zhenjiang campus, and the Pakistani cohort runs an active student community inside that mix.
Pakistani Students Association (PSA)
Active registered PSA at Jiangsu University, recognised by the Overseas Education College and the JSU Student Affairs Office. PSA office holders organise Independence Day events on 14 August, Pakistan Day on 23 March, Eid gatherings, freshers’ welcome, and a senior-junior mentorship pairing. New arrivals are paired with a senior Pakistani MBBS student within the first week.
Pakistani student community
Pakistani students already at Jiangsu University describe a settled Pakistani cohort spread across MBBS years 1 through 6 plus postgraduate medicine and engineering programmes. WhatsApp groups for the current MBBS Pakistani cohort and a separate parent-only group run by senior parents are introduced to your family during pre-departure briefing.
Airport pickup
MTZ-arranged airport pickup at Nanjing Lukou International Airport (NKG, approximately 70 km, 1-hour drive) or Shanghai Pudong (PVG, approximately 250 km with HSR transfer through Shanghai Hongqiao to Zhenjiang). Pickup is included in MTZ service at no additional charge per the Stage 6 fee table. PSA seniors also coordinate informal arrival welcome at Zhenjiang Railway Station.
City character
Zhenjiang is a settled Yangtze port city dating to over 700 years of recorded history, mid-sized by Chinese standards at about 3 million people. The city pace is calmer than Shanghai or Nanjing, daily life is predictable, and the cost of living sits below tier-1 city levels. Parents describe Zhenjiang as a ‘comfortable middle ground’ between the village quiet of small Chinese cities and the intensity of Shanghai.
Climate
Four-season climate. Summers (June to August) hot and humid, 28 to 35°C, occasional rainfall. Autumn (September to November) mild and dry, 15 to 25°C. Winters (December to February) cold with occasional light snow, 0 to 8°C, heating provided in all hostel rooms and academic buildings. Spring (March to May) cool and wet, 12 to 22°C. Pakistani students arriving in September should pack a light jacket for autumn evenings and a heavy coat for the December onward period.
Transport
Zhenjiang Railway Station runs HSR services to Shanghai Hongqiao in under 70 minutes and to Nanjing South in under 30 minutes. City buses (CNY 1 to 2 per ride) cover the campus-to-station-to-city-centre corridor. DiDi (Chinese ride-hailing equivalent) operates citywide for English-supported booking. Pakistani students already at Jiangsu University describe Zhenjiang’s traffic as easy compared to Shanghai or Nanjing.
Weekend activities
Day trips by HSR to Nanjing (Confucius Temple, Yangtze River bridges, Pakistani halal restaurants in Xianlin district) and Shanghai (the Bund, Pakistan Consulate-General Shanghai if administrative help needed). Inside Zhenjiang: Jinshan Temple Park, Beigu Mountain, the Western Jin Dynasty cultural quarter on Boxiang Road, the new Wanda Plaza for shopping and food. The PSA runs monthly group trips during term time.
Communication with family
WhatsApp works in China through a VPN subscription (about CNY 50 to 80 per month, see Block 7 Section 5). Voice calls home via WhatsApp run reliably. Time difference: Zhenjiang is 3 hours ahead of Islamabad, a 9 PM call from your child in Zhenjiang arrives at 6 PM Islamabad time. MTZ provides a recommended VPN list to your family during pre-departure briefing.
Student Life for Pakistani MBBS Students in China

Safety for Female Pakistani Students at Jiangsu University
Parents asking this question deserve a straight answer, not reassurance. Here is what Shihezi University’s arrangements actually are.
Female-only accommodation
Separate female-only dormitory block within the JSU International Student Dormitory complex. Pakistani daughters share a double room with another female international student (frequently another Pakistani or another Muslim student where requested). Male students cannot access the female block at any time.
Female warden
A trained female warden is on duty inside the female block 24 hours, in rotating shifts. The warden holds the master key, handles emergency contact with the Overseas Education College, and operates the after-hours sign-in register. Pakistani parents can request the warden’s direct phone line through MTZ at pre-departure.
Separate entrance
The female block has its own ground-floor entrance separate from the male blocks. Card-access readers at the female entrance only respond to cards registered to female residents.
Male visitor restriction
Male visitors not permitted in the female block under any circumstances, including male family members. Male relatives meet female students in the dormitory reception area on the ground floor between 09:00 and 21:00, signed in at the security desk.
CCTV
CCTV coverage at every entrance, every corridor, the laundry room, and the kitchen. Recordings retained for a minimum of 30 days by the JSU Security Office.
CARD-ACCESS ENTRY
RFID card-access entry per dormitory, per floor, and per individual room. Cards are issued in your child’s name on arrival and are tracked centrally by the Overseas Education College. Lost cards are reissued through the dormitory front desk within 24 hours.
MTZ pre-enrolment support
MTZ Islamabad and MTZ Lahore conduct a pre-departure briefing specifically with the parents of every female Pakistani student going to Jiangsu University. The briefing covers female warden contact details, the parent-only WhatsApp group run by senior Pakistani parents at JSU, and the JSU OEC 24-hour international student helpline.
Parent contact line
Jiangsu University Overseas Education College Admissions Office: +86-511-88792366. Students’ Affairs: +86-511-88792566. Teaching Affairs: +86-511-88792216. Halal Food at Jiangsu University, What Your Child Will Actually Eat
This is one of the first questions Pakistani parents ask. The answer for Zhenjiang is straightforward. Here is what is available on campus and in the city.
Campus Muslim canteen (Qingzhen)
Jiangsu University operates a designated Qingzhen (Muslim / Halal) canteen on the main campus, certified for halal preparation under Chinese national Qingzhen standards. The menu covers rice dishes, noodles, beef and mutton stir-fries, bread, and the standard Chinese-Muslim staples (Lanzhou-style hand-pulled noodles, lamb kebabs, halal dumplings). Open three meals a day during term.
Halal restaurants in the city
Zhenjiang has 8 to 12 Hui (Chinese Muslim) restaurants in the city centre, with the highest concentration on Gulou Street and Daxi Road. Pakistani students frequently identify three or four go-to outlets within the first month. A Pakistani-run restaurant operates near the JSU campus serving biryani, karahi, and naan on order (informal, opens evenings).
Nearest mosque
Zhenjiang Yindu Mosque (镇江银都清真寺) on Boxiang Road serves the city’s Muslim community. Five daily prayers, Friday Jumma at the standard zuhr time, regular Tarawih during Ramadan. Approximately 15 minutes by bus from the main JSU campus.
Prayer room on campus
A dedicated prayer space is available inside the JSU International Student Dormitory complex for international Muslim students, including Pakistanis. Open 24 hours. Separate male and female prayer spaces. Wudu facility attached.
Supermarket halal products
Walmart Zhenjiang and the on-campus convenience store stock halal-certified meat products under the Qingzhen logo, halal-sourced biscuits and snacks, and basic South Asian spices. The Pakistan Wholesale Halal Food import network supplies Lahore-style masalas and rice through the PSA’s bulk order channel each semester.
Ramadan provisions
During Ramadan, the JSU Muslim canteen extends its hours to provide pre-Fajr Sehri (between 03:30 and 04:30) and post-Maghrib Iftar (sunset). The PSA arranges a community Iftar inside the dormitory common room on most evenings. JSU Overseas Education College allows attendance adjustments for Tarawih and Eid prayers on application to the JSU Student Affairs Office.

Refund Policy and Risk Flags: Read Before You Pay
Every Pakistani family needs to understand what is refundable and what is not before any payment is made to Jiangsu University or to MTZ. The refund policy and the five risk flags below come directly from Jiangsu University’s published rules at oec.ujs.edu.cn and from MTZ’s own service terms.
Application fee (CNY 200)
Non-refundable. Paid at submission of the online application. Stated explicitly on oec.ujs.edu.cn Application Procedure page.
Reservation / seat fee for MBBS (CNY 6,000)
Non-refundable, but deducted from on-arrival fees if your child enrols. If your child does not enrol after paying the reservation fee, the CNY 6,000 is forfeit. Stated explicitly on oec.ujs.edu.cn.
Tuition fee (CNY 34,000)
Paid only after arrival and registration in Zhenjiang. If your child withdraws before registration, no tuition has been paid. If your child withdraws after registration, refund is governed by JSU policy and may be partial or zero depending on the point of withdrawal in the semester.
Hostel deposit (none charged separately)
No separate hostel deposit is charged by Jiangsu University at the application stage. Hostel fee of CNY 4,900 is paid on arrival. If your child does not check in, no hostel fee has been paid.
X1 student visa rejection
If the Chinese Embassy Islamabad rejects the X1 visa application, MTZ refunds 100 percent of the MTZ service fee paid for that university only. The CNY 6,000 JSU reservation fee remains non-refundable per JSU policy. The CNY 200 application fee remains non-refundable per JSU policy.
MTZ service fee
MTZ service fee refund policy is stated in the MTZ service agreement signed at engagement. Each refund condition (visa rejection, university rejection, document rejection at PMDC NOC stage) is explicitly itemised in that agreement. Your family receives a copy at signing.
Risk flags — read these before applying:
Age Limit (18 to 25 Years)
Jiangsu University admits MBBS applicants aged 18 to 25 years per oec.ujs.edu.cn Eligibility page. Applicants under 18 must provide a notarised guardian guaranty letter. Applicants over 25 at the point of application are not eligible for the standard undergraduate MBBS at Jiangsu University. MTZ verifies your child’s age against this band during the Step 1 pre-audit and flags any borderline case in writing before any fee is paid.
September 2026 Intake Deadline (30 June 2026)
The Jiangsu University September 2026 intake application closes on 30 June 2026 per oec.ujs.edu.cn Dates and Deadlines page. Late applications are not reviewed. Pakistani families who begin the documentation process in May or June face a real risk of missing this deadline because IBCC equivalence routing in Pakistan alone takes 4 to 6 weeks plus another 2 to 3 weeks for MOFA attestation and PMDC NOC. MTZ recommends commencing the application by 31 March 2026 at the latest for a September 2026 intake to keep CSCA and documentation timelines safe.
Document Quality and Notarisation Failures
Jiangsu University requires original or notarised copies of the high school diploma and high school transcripts, plus a Foreigner Physical Examination Form valid for 6 months at the date of enrolment (oec.ujs.edu.cn Eligibility page). The most frequent rejection cause for Pakistani applications is a notarised copy that fails Chinese embassy attestation standards. MTZ runs every document through the MTZ Islamabad pre-audit before submission to JSU and routes the originals through MOFA attestation in the correct sequence. If your family routes documents independently, plan for one to two rounds of rejection and re-submission.
PMDC List Changes
PMDC’s recognised foreign institutions list is updated periodically by Pakistan Medical and Dental Council at pmdc.pk. Although Jiangsu University School of Medicine appears on the live list as of 25 May 2026, PMDC reserves the right to add or remove institutions. MTZ re-verifies the PMDC list before every student placement and notifies your family in writing of the verification date. Confirm the current PMDC status at pmdc.pk yourself before any fee payment.
CSCA Transcript Deadline
(15 July 2026)
Jiangsu University requires the CSCA Transcript no later than 15 July 2026 for the September 2026 intake (oec.ujs.edu.cn Eligibility page). The CSCA test results are issued 3 to 4 weeks after the test sitting at csca.cn. If your child sits the June 2026 CSCA window and the result is delayed beyond mid-July, the application closes without a transcript. MTZ strongly recommends sitting the CSCA in March 2026 (preferred) or April 2026 (last safe window) to keep the transcript timeline safe. Skipping or postponing this step is the single most common cause of September intake cancellation at MOE-listed CSCA-required universities.

Campus and City, Jiangsu University at Zhenjiang
Where your child studies shapes the full 6-year experience. Here is exactly what the Jiangsu University campus and the city of Zhenjiang look like on the ground.
The Campus
Jiangsu University’s main campus occupies approximately 2,030,000 square metres at No. 301 Xuefu Road, Zhenjiang, Jiangsu Province 212013, on the south bank of the Yangtze River where the river meets the Grand Canal of China. Inside the campus are 24 schools and faculties teaching about 45,000 students, of which approximately 2,200 are international degree-seeking students from 66 countries (source: oec.ujs.edu.cn About Us Overview, verified 25 May 2026).
The JSU School of Medicine sits inside the main campus alongside engineering, agriculture, and humanities faculties. Your child crosses campus to clinical anatomy labs, the central library at lib.ujs.edu.cn (with a dedicated medical library at the School of Medicine), the international student dormitory complex, the Muslim (Qingzhen) canteen, the dedicated prayer space, and the university sports complex inside a single contiguous walking footprint.
Jiangsu University was formed in its current shape in 2001 by Ministry of Education approval, merging three predecessor institutions whose combined history dates to 1902 (the founding of the original Sanjiang Normal College, which evolved into Jiangsu University) and to 1934 for the medical school predecessor (Zhenjiang Medical College). The 2021 Times Higher Education ranking placed Jiangsu University at No. 58 of Chinese Mainland universities. JSU-SOM held a 2021 STEM ranking of No. 46. The Clinical Medicine discipline sits in the Essential Science Indicators global top 3 per thousand.
The City of Zhenjiang
Zhenjiang is one of the oldest continuously settled cities along the Yangtze River, with over 700 years of recorded urban history and roots stretching back further still. The city’s population is about 3 million, classifying it as mid-sized by Chinese standards and well below the megacity intensity of Shanghai or Nanjing. The city sits on the south bank of the Yangtze at the historic confluence of the Yangtze and the Grand Canal of China, the world’s longest artificial waterway, giving Zhenjiang a distinctive role as an inland river port.
For Pakistani families, Zhenjiang’s three practical strengths are climate, transport, and pace. Climate is four-season: hot humid summer (28 to 35°C), mild dry autumn (15 to 25°C), cold winter with occasional light snow (0 to 8°C), cool wet spring (12 to 22°C). Transport is dominated by Zhenjiang Railway Station’s high-speed rail services, which reach Shanghai Hongqiao Station in under 70 minutes and Nanjing South Station in under 30 minutes. Two major international airports sit within range: Nanjing Lukou International Airport (NKG, approximately 70 km) and Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG, approximately 250 km via HSR connection through Shanghai Hongqiao). The city pace is calmer than tier-1 cities, daily life is predictable, and the cost of living sits below tier-1 city levels, which suits MBBS students settling in for a 6-year programme.
Zhenjiang’s Muslim community is anchored by the Zhenjiang Yindu Mosque (镇江银都清真寺) on Boxiang Road, with five daily prayers, Friday Jumma, and regular Tarawih during Ramadan. Hui (Chinese Muslim) restaurants concentrate on Gulou Street and Daxi Road in the city centre. The Jiangsu University main campus is about 15 minutes by bus from the mosque and about 20 to 30 minutes from the city’s main commercial district at the new Wanda Plaza.

7 False Claims About Jiangsu University Pakistani Families Often Hear
MBBS in China is a competitive market and not every claim a family hears from agents or social media is accurate. Below are 7 false claims MTZ encounters regularly, paired with the verified fact and its official Jiangsu University or PMDC source.

“Pakistani MBBS graduates from Jiangsu University cannot get PMDC registration”
Jiangsu University School of Medicine appears on the live PMDC List of Recognized Foreign Institutions at pmdc.pk/Documents/Others/Listz.pdf (verified 25 May 2026). Your child returns to Pakistan, sits the National Licensing Examination (NLE), and on passing registers as a Medical Practitioner with PMDC.

“The MBBS at Jiangsu University is taught in Chinese, not English”
Jiangsu University runs an MOE-listed English-Taught Clinical Medicine MBBS programme. All 6 years are delivered in English including clinical rotations. HSK Level 4 Mandarin is not required. Source: oec.ujs.edu.cn fee table for English-Taught Clinical Medicine MBBS.

“Jiangsu University does not have international students from Pakistan”
Jiangsu University hosts approximately 2,200 international degree-seeking students from 66 countries on its main campus, with about 400 international medical students at JSU-SOM from over 50 countries (source: yxy.ujs.edu.cn About Us Overview). An active Pakistani Students Association is registered at the university, recognised by the Overseas Education College.

“Zhenjiang’s climate is too extreme for Pakistani students”
Zhenjiang has a four-season climate with summer 28 to 35°C, autumn 15 to 25°C, winter 0 to 8°C (occasional light snow), spring 12 to 22°C. Heating is provided in all hostel rooms and academic buildings throughout the cold months. Pakistani students arriving in September experience mild autumn weather similar to Islamabad in November.

“MDCAT is optional for MBBS at Jiangsu University because it is a Chinese university”
PMDC requires a minimum 50% MDCAT score for Pakistani students entering any foreign MBBS programme from the September 2024-25 intake onward, including at Jiangsu University. Without MDCAT 50%, PMDC will not issue the NOC and the Pakistani student cannot register on return. Jiangsu University’s own admission does not require MDCAT, but the PMDC requirement applies to your child’s pathway.

“MTZ guarantees admission and visa for Jiangsu University if you pay the service fee upfront”
MTZ does not promise admission, scholarships, or visa outcomes from Jiangsu University, the Chinese Embassy, or any third party (per Block 18 MTZ Promise, Will Not item 2). MTZ charges no fee until your child holds the Pre-Admission Letter from Jiangsu University in writing (per Block 18 MTZ Promise, Will Not item 1). Any agent quoting a 100% guarantee should be treated with caution.

“You can apply to Jiangsu University without sitting the CSCA exam”
CSCA is mandatory for all Jiangsu University undergraduate applicants per oec.ujs.edu.cn Application Procedure page Step 4 and Eligibility page section 3. Jiangsu University will not review applications without a valid CSCA Transcript. The 15 July 2026 transcript deadline applies for September 2026 intake. Skipping or postponing CSCA is the single most common cause of September intake cancellation.

Frequently Asked Questions, Jiangsu University MBBS
The 11 questions below are the ones Pakistani parents most frequently ask MTZ about MBBS at Jiangsu University. Each answer is sourced from oec.ujs.edu.cn, yxy.ujs.edu.cn, pmdc.pk, or MTZ direct service practice.
Yes. Jiangsu University School of Medicine appears on the live PMDC List of Recognized Foreign Institutions at pmdc.pk/Documents/Others/Listz.pdf. The PMDC entry reads ‘Jiangsu University School of Medicine, Bachelor of Medicine in Clinical Medicine, MBBS.’ Verified 25 May 2026. After completing the 6-year MBBS, your child sits the National Licensing Examination (NLE) in Pakistan and on passing registers as a Medical Practitioner with PMDC. MTZ re-verifies PMDC recognition before every student placement.
Indicative 6-year total at current 2026 fee levels and the display rate of 1 CNY = PKR 40 is about PKR 1,29,36,000 (PKR 1.29 crore), covering CNY 204,000 tuition + CNY 29,400 hostel + CNY 86,400 living costs + CNY 3,600 health insurance. This excludes one-time fees, flights, and exchange-rate movement. MTZ advises families to plan a conservative rate of PKR 42 to PKR 45 per CNY for a 6-year programme. For the latest CNY-PKR figure on the date of payment, WhatsApp MTZ Islamabad or Lahore. Source: oec.ujs.edu.cn Estimated Costs page, verified 25 May 2026.
The MBBS at Jiangsu University is fully English-Taught Clinical Medicine across all 6 years, including clinical rotations. HSK Level 4 Mandarin is not required. Jiangsu University is one of 45 MOE-listed Chinese universities approved to deliver English-medium MBBS to international students. Some campus-life Mandarin (transport, shopping, food ordering) is useful and the JSU Confucius Institute offers free elective Mandarin classes for international students, but this is not part of the MBBS academic requirement.
The Jiangsu University application window for the September 2026 intake runs from 1 April 2026 to 30 June 2026. The CSCA Transcript deadline is 15 July 2026. On-campus registration is 9 September 2026. The JSU International Student Dormitory operates a separate female-only block with a trained female warden on duty 24 hours, a dedicated ground-floor entrance, card-access entry on each floor and room, CCTV at all entry and corridor points, and male-visitor restriction throughout. Your daughter shares a double room with another female international student (frequently another Pakistani or another Muslim student where requested). See Block 10B above for the full MOE vs Non-MOE comparison.

Yes, your child remains eligible to sit USMLE and pursue US residency. The 2024 ECFMG requirement mandates that international medical graduates come from a school whose accrediting agency is WFME-recognised. China’s national accrediting agency WCAME holds WFME recognition (verified at wfme.org/accreditation/recognition-programme/recognised-agencies/), and Jiangsu University is a WDOMS-listed MOE-approved school under WCAME accreditation. Your child applies for ECFMG certification, sits USMLE Step 1, Step 2 CK, and Step 3, and enters the National Resident Matching Program. MTZ does not coach USMLE directly. See our full NLE preparation guide at /blog/nle-exam-preparation-after-mbbs-china/ for the Pakistan-side return pathway.
