Quick Answer

TL;DRApplying for MBBS in China from Pakistan takes 2–5 months and follows six stages: free eligibility check → university shortlist → application submission → admission letter + JW202 → X1 student visa → pre-departure and arrival. MTZ manages every stage from a physical office in Islamabad and Lahore. WhatsApp your FSc marks to start.

Before You Begin — What You Actually Need

Getting your MBBS application wrong costs you a year. Getting it right opens the door to a PMDC-recognised medical degree at one of 29 approved Chinese universities — with direct pathways to practise in Pakistan, the Gulf, the UK, the US, Australia or Canada.

This guide covers the complete application process from your FSc result to your first day on a Chinese medical campus. Every step is based on how MTZ actually processes applications from Pakistan — not a generic overview.

What you need at the startDetails
FSc Pre-Medical resultMinimum 60% for affordable-tier, 65–70%+ for MOE-listed universities
MDCATRequired by PMDC — you must have sat MDCAT. Confirm current policy at pmdc.pk
Valid passport18+ months validity from your intended intake date
Budget clarityKnow your annual PKR budget — this determines your tier and university options
PMDC positionConfirm your target university appears on the current PMDC recognised list at pmdc.pk

If you have these five things in order, you are ready to begin. If any is missing, address it first — MTZ will tell you exactly what to resolve in your free eligibility check.

The Six-Stage Application Process — Pakistan to Campus

The entire process from your first WhatsApp message to arriving on campus runs in six sequential stages. Stages 1–3 are your preparation and decision phase. Stages 4–6 are MTZ’s execution phase — we drive the paperwork while you prepare.

Step 1Free MTZ Eligibility Check — WhatsApp Your FSc Marks Send your FSc Pre-Medical percentage, MDCAT status and annual PKR budget to MTZ on WhatsApp. We respond within 24 hours with which of the 29 PMDC-approved universities match your profile — split by MOE-listed (English-medium) and non-MOE listed (bilingual). This step costs nothing and commits you to nothing. It is the only sensible starting point because the 29 universities have different cutoffs, different fee structures and different medium-of-instruction requirements. Matching your profile to the right university before applying saves time, money and heartache.
Step 2University Shortlist — You and Your Parents Decide MTZ produces a shortlist of 3–5 universities that match your academic profile and budget. For each university we provide: annual fees in PKR (tuition + hostel + estimated living), the intake calendar (September or March), the city and campus profile, MOE vs non-MOE status and its implications, and hostel photographs for female students on request. We present the trade-offs honestly. There is no pressure. You and your parents decide together. MTZ does not earn more by placing you at a more expensive university — we earn by placing you correctly.
Step 3Document Preparation — MTZ Handles This Once you choose your university, MTZ prepares your full application file. Required documents for most universities are listed below. Our documentation team in Islamabad or Lahore handles attestation, sequencing and formatting — you provide the originals, we do the rest.
DocumentNotes
Passport (original)18+ months validity from intake date — apply for renewal immediately if short
FSc / Intermediate certificateAttested by HEC (Higher Education Commission)
Matric certificateAttested by relevant Board
MDCAT result / scorecardAs required by PMDC — confirm current requirement at pmdc.pk
Medical fitness certificateIssued from a Chinese embassy-approved hospital — includes Hep B/C, HIV, chest X-ray
Police clearance certificateFrom your local police station — MTZ advises on exact format required
4 passport photographsWhite background — exact specifications depend on the university
Bank statement (for visa)Minimum 6 months, typically showing PKR 8L–12L — required at visa stage

Important: Do not get any document attested until MTZ confirms the exact attestation format required by your chosen university. Requirements differ between institutions and attestation cannot be undone.

Step 4Admission Letter + JW202 Form — 2 to 8 Weeks MTZ submits your application to your chosen university. The university issues an admission letter — typically within 2–8 weeks. The JW202 form (issued by the Chinese Ministry of Education for government scholarship or regular admission tracking) follows shortly after. Both documents are required for your X1 student visa application. MTZ tracks the application status and chases the university if there are delays — you do not have to follow up yourself.
Step 5X1 Student Visa — MTZ Prepares and Submits With your admission letter and JW202 in hand, MTZ prepares your complete X1 student visa file and submits through the Chinese Embassy in Islamabad or the Consulate in Lahore. Processing time is typically 4–10 working days. Before submission, MTZ conducts a one-on-one embassy interview rehearsal — covering the most-asked questions and the correct way to answer them. Visa rejection is rare with a properly prepared file. If rejection occurs due to MTZ’s file preparation, we resubmit at no additional cost.
Embassy interview — most common questionsWhat MTZ coaches you to say
Why did you choose this university?Specific answer about the university’s MOE listing, English-medium programme, and clinical hospital — prepared by MTZ
Who is funding your studies?Family / self-funded — supported by bank statement already in file
What will you do after graduation?Sit NLE / return to Pakistan — or state your international licensing pathway clearly
When will you return to Pakistan? After completing 5 years study + 1 year internship
Have you studied abroad before?Answer honestly — MTZ prepares your file accordingly
Step 6Pre-Departure Briefing + Arrival Support Before you fly, MTZ holds a pre-departure briefing at our Islamabad or Lahore office. We cover: what to pack for your specific city’s climate, how to set up your Chinese bank account and SIM card on arrival, your residence permit registration timeline (within 24 hours of arrival — mandatory), and how to connect with the Pakistani Students Association on your campus. MTZ arranges airport pickup in China through our network of senior Pakistani students. Your first 30 days include registration support — MTZ stays reachable throughout.

Application Timeline — Month by Month

Below is a realistic timeline for a September intake (main intake, all 29 universities available). March intake follows the same stages but compressed into a shorter window — see the March intake guide for specifics.

7 Common Mistakes Pakistani Students Make — and How to Avoid Them

  1. Applying to a university not on the current PMDC list. Always verify your target university against the current PMDC recognised foreign institutions list at pmdc.pk before paying any fee to anyone.
  2. Choosing a university based on a lower fee without checking MOE vs non-MOE status. Non-MOE bilingual universities require HSK-4 Chinese language proficiency in Year 1. Students who discover this after arrival — having assumed English-medium — face serious academic difficulty.
  3. Getting documents attested in the wrong format. Different universities require different attestation sequences (HEC → MOFA → Embassy, or variations). Attesting incorrectly means starting again.
  4. Not checking passport validity before applying. Your passport must have 18+ months validity from your intake date. If it expires in less than 18 months from September, renew it now — passport renewal takes 4–6 weeks in Pakistan.
  5. Paying an agent without seeing the admission letter first. Never transfer money to any consultant until you have seen the physical admission letter from the university AND the JW202 form. Both must arrive before any payment beyond a documented processing deposit.
  6. Missing the medical fitness certificate format. The medical certificate must be issued from a hospital approved by the Chinese Embassy — not just any government hospital. MTZ provides the list of approved hospitals.
  7. Ignoring the residence permit registration deadline on arrival. You must register your residence permit within 24 hours of arriving at your hostel in China. Failure to register is a legal violation. MTZ’s arrival support ensures this is done on Day 1.

MOE-Listed vs Non-MOE Listed — The Decision That Shapes Your MBBS

The single most important choice in the application process is MOE-listed or non-MOE listed. MTZ’s 29 PMDC-approved universities divide into 13 MOE-listed (English-medium MBBS) and 16 non-MOE listed (bilingual MBBS). Both are PMDC-recognised. Both allow you to sit NLE. The difference is language of instruction and fee level — and for USMLE/ECFMG, it matters which you choose.

FactorMOE-Listed (13 universities)Non-MOE Listed (16 universities)

September vs March Intake — Which Should You Target?

There are two intake windows per year. September is always preferred — it gives you access to all 29 MTZ universities and the widest seat availability. March is a fallback for students whose FSc results arrive after September’s application window closes.
