What Is the MBBS at Nanjing Medical University?

The single-paragraph answer below is the one Pakistani parents most often ask MTZ to summarise in 60 seconds.

Quick Answer

Nanjing Medical University, founded in 1934, is the first university in mainland China approved by the Ministry of Education to deliver English-medium MBBS to international students. PMDC-recognised, MOE-listed since 2007, WHO-WDOMS listed, and WFME-aligned. Annual tuition is CNY 34,000 with hostel CNY 6,000. 24 affiliated hospitals and 50+ teaching hospitals support clinical training. The September 2026 intake closes 30 June 2026 and caps at 60 international students.

Six Reasons NMU Beats Newer Chinese Medical Universities for Pakistani Students

Nanjing Medical University is one of seven Premium-tier universities in MTZ’s portfolio. It was the first university in mainland China to receive Ministry of Education approval to deliver English-medium MBBS to international students. These six reasons apply specifically to Nanjing Medical University, not to MBBS in China generally.

1

Without MOE-Listed Status Held for Two Decades, Your Child’s International Licensing Options Narrow Sharply

USMLE Step 1 eligibility, ECFMG registration, and PLAB applications all rest on the medical school holding MOE recognition with a long track record. A non-MOE degree closes these pathways before your child has sat a single licensing exam. Nanjing Medical University was approved by the Ministry of Education in 2007 as one of the first batch of universities in mainland China to deliver English-medium MBBS to international students. Eighteen years of continuous MOE approval is not provisional. It is the foundation your child’s international career will rest on.

2

A Newcomer Medical University Has No Track Record of Graduates Passing International Licensing

Does your child want to sit USMLE Step 1 in 2032 with a degree from a Chinese university that started English MBBS three years ago? Probably not. If your child’s ambition extends to postgraduate research or academic medicine, the university’s track record matters more than its tuition fee. Nanjing Medical University has trained international medical graduates since 2005. Eighteen years of evidence, 1,500+ international students currently enrolled from over 40 countries. NMU graduates have a documented high pass rate in their home country’s medical licensing examinations. That is two decades of evidence, not a marketing claim.

3

A Provincial Capital Hospital Network Beats a Single Affiliated Hospital Every Time

3,000 beds at the First Affiliated Hospital alone. The quality of clinical exposure in Years 3 to 6 shapes the doctor your child becomes, and Nanjing Medical University owns 24 affiliated hospitals plus 50+ teaching hospitals spread across Nanjing, Suzhou, Wuxi, Changzhou, Huaian, Shanghai, Hangzhou, and Qingdao, plus one teaching hospital in Indonesia. The First Affiliated Hospital (Jiangsu Province Hospital) is a 3,000-bed Grade III Class A facility and the most comprehensive hospital in Jiangsu Province. The Second Affiliated Hospital has 1,600 beds and 12 provincial key clinical specialties. The Stomatology Hospital is ranked 5th in China. Your child rotates through hospitals that serve as the highest-level medical destinations across the lower Yangtze region.

4

Nanjing Is the Capital of Jiangsu Province With Better Halal Access Than Most Eastern Chinese Cities

Cities with little Muslim population create real settling-in difficulties for Pakistani students. Nanjing has an established Hui Muslim community and multiple halal-certified restaurants. The Nanjing Jingjue Mosque is one of the oldest in southern China. Halal food access in Nanjing is wider than in Shanghai or Suzhou. Your child eats without compromise from Day 1.

5

A University Without an Established Pakistani Community Puts Your Child’s First Year at Risk

Ask any Pakistani parent whose child returned home in Month 2 of MBBS abroad: the first semester is when everything goes wrong. Students who arrive without a support network face administrative confusion, isolation, and practical difficulties alone. Nanjing Medical University hosts 1,500+ international students from over 40 countries, with an active Pakistani student community spanning multiple year groups across both Jiangning and Wutai campuses. Your child gets airport pickup, settling-in support, and senior Pakistani students to call on from Day 1, not from Month 3.

6

A Small Class Size of 60 Means Real Faculty Attention, Not a Lecture Hall of 300

NMU caps the English-medium MBBS intake at 60 international students per year. Compare this to universities admitting 200 to 400 international students per intake. Your child gets direct access to faculty, smaller tutorial groups, and a higher staff-to-student ratio. The 1,470+ registered faculty include 117 full professors and 175 associate professors, with 185 doctoral supervisors and 812 master’s supervisors. That density of senior teachers is unusual outside Top 10 medical schools.

Can Your Child Apply for MBBS at Nanjing Medical University?

Nanjing Medical University sets its own entry requirements and PMDC sets additional conditions for Pakistani students. Both apply. The table below covers Nanjing Medical University-specific requirements as published in the official 2026 admission brochure at e-sie.njmu.edu.cn. Confirm PMDC’s current MDCAT requirement at pmdc.pk before applying.

Academic Requirements (Nanjing Medical University-Specific)

English Proficiency Note: Pakistani students who completed FSc in English-medium schooling may submit a medium-of-instruction letter from their school in lieu of IELTS. MTZ confirms case-by-case acceptance with NMU before applying. MTZ prepares the medium-of-instruction documentation if applicable.

Physical and Medicments

Nanjing Medical University requires all incoming international students to provide a Foreigner Physical Examination Form and blood check report. The examination covers a general physical check, blood tests, chest X-ray, vision and hearing assessment. Conditions that may cancel admission: severe infectious diseases including hepatitis B, HIV, syphilis, or tuberculosis; mental or psychological disorders affecting study; and conditions that interfere with clinical training. Your child completes the medical examination at a Chinese Embassy approved hospital in Pakistan at an approximate cost of CNY 540 equivalent. Nanjing Medical University reviews the form, and NMU conducts an on-arrival re-check in Nanjing during registration week.

What MTZ Verifies Before Submitting Your Application

MTZ checks six things before any Nanjing Medical University application is submitted: (1) PMDC recognition status verified at pmdc.pk today. (2) FSc transcripts covering Physics, Chemistry, Biology with minimum 70% attested by IBCC and HEC. (3) English proficiency documentation, either IELTS/TOEFL certificate or medium-of-instruction letter. (4) Passport validity minimum 18 months beyond enrolment date. (5) Age within NMU limit of 18 to 25 years. (6) Application submitted well before the 60-seat cap closes. No application is submitted without all six passing.

How MTZ Applies Pakistani Students to Nanjing Medical University

The steps below cover the Nanjing Medical University application only. For the full general MBBS application process for China, see our complete guide at /mbbs-in-china/.

Step 1

Eligibility Confirmation (Week 1)

WhatsApp MTZ with your child’s FSc transcripts and MDCAT result. MTZ confirms Nanjing Medical University eligibility, checks PMDC status, and verifies age against NMU’s 18 to 25 limit. This step is free.

Step 2

Document Preparation (Weeks 1 to 3)

NMU requires: FSc transcripts and graduation certificate (attested by IBCC, HEC, and MoFA), valid Pakistani passport (18 months validity minimum), MDCAT result, English proficiency documentation, Foreigner Physical Examination Form, non-criminal certificate, CV and study plan in English, financial guarantee letter signed by parents with bank statement covering 6 months, four passport-size photographs (blue background per NMU brochure). MTZ provides the complete checklist with attestation instructions.

Step 3

NMU Online Application (Weeks 3 to 4)

MTZ submits the application through the NMU School of International Education online portal at e-sie.njmu.edu.cn. The initial review takes about 5 business days. The 60-seat cap means MTZ submits early in the December to June window.

Step4

Online Interview

Qualified applicants take an online interview with NMU faculty. The interview covers academic background, motivation, and basic medical aptitude. MTZ prepares your child for the interview.

Step 5

Pre-Admission Letter and Non-Refundable Deposit

On passing the interview, NMU sends a pre-admission letter. Your child must pay the non-refundable CNY 13,000 deposit within the period specified in the letter. CNY 12,500 of this deposit counts toward Year 1 tuition. Failure to pay the deposit on time results in admission cancellation.

Step 6

Official Admission Letter and JW202 Form (June to August)

Nanjing Medical University is MOE-listed, so a JW202 form is required for your child’s X1 Student Visa. After deposit confirmation, NMU sends the Official Admission Letter and JW202. MTZ tracks delivery and informs you immediately on receipt.

Step 7

X1 Student Visa Application

With the Official Admission Letter and JW202 in hand, MTZ prepares your child’s X1 Student Visa application for the Chinese Embassy in Islamabad. MTZ accompanies the CVASC submission. See /china-student-visa/ for the full checklist.

Step 8

Pre-Departure Briefing (MTZ)

MTZ runs a pre-departure session covering what to pack for Nanjing’s four-season climate, halal food access, NMU Jiangning campus layout, bank account setup, VPN installation before departure, the Year 4 Wutai transition, and first-week support contacts. MTZ arranges the Nanjing airport pickup.

Step 9

Arrival and Enrolment

Your child arrives in Nanjing at Nanjing Lukou International Airport (NKG), completes the on-arrival medical re-check, pays the registration fee of CNY 500, collects the student ID, and is assigned to the Jiangning campus international dormitory. Classes begin 10 September. Students who fail to register on time without explanation are automatically disqualified, so MTZ ensures timely arrival.

Where Can Your Child Practise After MBBS from Nanjing Medical University?

Nanjing Medical University’s MOE-listed status and WFME alignment open licensing pathways across multiple countries. The three most relevant for Pakistani families are covered below. For the full country-by-country comparison across all 29 MTZ universities, see /mbbs-china-licensing/.

Nanjing Medical University MOE-Listed Status

The Chinese Ministry of Education lists Nanjing Medical University as an approved institution for English-medium MBBS delivery to international students, a status the university has held since 2007. NMU was in the first batch of mainland Chinese universities to receive this approval. NMU’s MOE-listed status meets the requirement for USMLE Step 1 and ECFMG eligibility. It supports PLAB and GMC applications for Pakistani graduates targeting the UK.

Logo of Al Ain Medical & Dental College with a blue circular emblem and a stylized winged figure, English and Arabic text around the edge.

PMDC Recognition and NLE Pathway (Pakistan)

Nanjing Medical University is on the PMDC recognised foreign institutions list. After completing the 6-year MBBS programme, Pakistani graduates must pass the NLE (National Licensing Examination) administered by PMDC to register and practise medicine in Pakistan. The NLE is mandatory for all foreign MBBS graduates regardless of country of study. MTZ re-verifies Nanjing Medical University’s PMDC recognition before placing each student. Always confirm the current list at pmdc.pk (new tab) before making any application decision.

ECFMG logo featuring a circular emblem next to the text 'ECFMG'

ECFMG Eligibility (USA Pathway)

Nanjing Medical University’s WFME alignment via WCAME and MOE-listed status support ECFMG eligibility for graduates who sit the USMLE licensing sequence (Step 1, Step 2 CK). NMU graduates have a documented record of passing licensing examinations in their home countries. Verify current eligibility at imed.faimer.org (new tab). For a full country-by-country licensing comparison, see /mbbs-china-licensing/.

MOE Listed vs Non-MOE Listed Universities, Which Suits You?

The 29 PMDC-approved Chinese medical universities where MTZ places Pakistani students split into two categories. Understanding the difference is the single most important decision a Pakistani family makes after committing to MBBS in China. Nanjing Medical University is MOE-listed and a first-batch approval holder since 2007, placing it among the longest-running English-medium MBBS programmes in mainland China.

NMC India and BMDC Bangladesh apply to those countries’ students only. Pakistani students are unaffected by NMC or BMDC, since PMDC recognises both MOE and non-MOE listed universities.

Your Child Lives on Campus Years 1 to 3, Rents an Apartment Years 4 to 6

NMU is the only Premium-tier MOE-listed university in MTZ’s portfolio where on-campus accommodation runs for half the degree, not all of it. Jiangning campus has international student dormitories for Years 1 to 3. Wutai campus, where clinical teaching happens from Year 4, does not. The financial and security implications of that split are covered openly in this block and in Section; Refund Policy

Important Year 4 to 6 note: From Year 4 onwards, all classes move to Wutai campus. Wutai does not have international student hostel facilities. Your child must rent a private apartment near Wutai for Years 4, 5, and 6. See Block 16 risk flag for full transparency on this cost and arrangement.

Life as a Pakistani Student in Nanjing, Across Four Seasons

Nanjing is one of the four ancient capitals of China, sitting on the Yangtze River as the capital of Jiangsu Province with a population of 9.4 million. The city carries one of the oldest Hui Muslim communities in southern China and connects to Shanghai by one-hour high-speed rail. Pakistani students at Nanjing Medical University inherit a city that rewards exploration.

Pakistani Students Association (PSA)

An active Pakistani student community at Nanjing Medical University runs Eid celebrations, Pakistan Independence Day events, cricket matches, new student orientation, and airport pickup for new arrivals.

Pakistani student community

A Pakistani presence at NMU spans multiple batches within the 1,500+ total international students from over 40 countries. MTZ connects new students with senior Pakistani students before arrival.

Airport pickup

MTZ arranges a named senior Pakistani student to meet new arrivals at Nanjing Lukou International Airport (NKG). No finding your way around alone on Day 1. The Jiangning campus is approximately 45 minutes from the airport.

City character

Nanjing is one of the four ancient capitals of China and the capital of Jiangsu Province. It is a major transport hub on the Beijing-Shanghai high-speed rail line. Population approximately 9.4 million. Strong public transport, modern infrastructure, and a city centre full of cultural and historical sites including the Ming Tomb, Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum, and Confucius Temple area.

Climate

Nanjing has a humid subtropical climate with four distinct seasons. Spring (March to May): 10 to 20 degrees C, mild and pleasant. Summer (June to August): 25 to 35 degrees C, hot and humid with rainfall. Autumn (September to November): 15 to 25 degrees C, the most comfortable season. Winter (December to February): 0 to 8 degrees C, cold but not extreme. Pakistani students adapt to all four seasons during the 6-year degree.

Transport

DiDi (Chinese ride-hailing) is widely used by students. Nanjing Metro is one of the most extensive in China with 12 lines, serving both Jiangning campus and Wutai. Nanjing South Railway Station connects to Shanghai (1 hour), Beijing (4 hours), and most major Chinese cities. Nanjing Lukou International Airport (NKG) has direct flights to Dubai, Doha, and major Chinese transit hubs for Pakistan routes.

Weekend activities

Nanjing offers cultural sites (Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum, Purple Mountain, Confucius Temple area), parks (Xuanwu Lake, Mochou Lake), and food streets. Shanghai is 1 hour by high-speed rail. Hangzhou and Suzhou are weekend trips. PSA-organised group outings are a regular feature of campus life.

Communication with family

VPN must be installed before departure from Pakistan. With VPN active, WhatsApp, YouTube, Google, Pakistani news apps, and family video calls work normally.

Two Campuses, Two Female Safety Arrangements for Your Daughter or Sister

Two campuses, two safety arrangements. Years 1 to 3 on Jiangning are inside an international student dormitory with female-only floors. Years 4 to 6 on Wutai are inside a private rented apartment in central Nanjing. Pakistani parents need both pictures before paying any deposit, and MTZ states the difference openly.

Female-only accommodation

NMU houses your daughter on a separate female-only floor or in a female-only block on Jiangning campus, separated from male students

Female warden

A female staff member runs the female hostel block. First point of contact for any hostel concern at any hour

Separate entrance

The female block has its own entrance. Male students and male visitors cannot enter the female accommodation area

Male visitor restriction

Male visitors, including family members, meet your daughter in designated common areas only, never inside the female hostel

CCTV

CCTV covers all hostel entrances. 24-hour campus security personnel on site at Jiangning

CARD-ACCESS ENTRY

Hostel entry is by student card only. Unregistered visitors cannot enter the building

MTZ pre-enrolment support

MTZ shares hostel photographs and confirms female accommodation details before any commitment is made

Parent contact line

MTZ Islamabad (+92 315 155 5507) and Lahore (+92 328 900 2222) contactable throughout the full 6 years

Years 4 to 6 female safety, Wutai off-campus: From Year 4, your daughter moves to a private rented apartment near Wutai campus. MTZ assists with locating a vetted apartment building near other Pakistani female students, with a recommendation that female students share a flat with one or more other Pakistani female seniors for shared security. MTZ verifies the apartment building has secure entry and operates in a residential area before the rental is signed. This arrangement is not equivalent to the on-campus Jiangning hostel and Pakistani families must understand the change before paying any fee.

Halal Food at Nanjing Medical University, What Your Child Will Actually Eat

Nanjing Jingjue Mosque has stood since the Ming dynasty. That single historical fact tells Pakistani families more than any reassuring paragraph: the city has carried a continuous Hui Muslim presence for over five centuries, and halal food access today is wider than in Shanghai, Hangzhou, or Suzhou.

Campus Muslim canteen (Qingzhen)

A halal dining section operates on Jiangning campus. It serves rice dishes, noodles, lamb, chicken, and beef with halal preparation. Daily meal cost is approximately CNY 25 to 40.

Halal restaurants in the city

Nanjing has multiple halal-certified restaurants spread across the city, with a concentration near the historic Confucius Temple area and the Nanjing Jingjue Mosque. Hui, Uyghur, and Pakistani cuisine are all accessible.

Nanjing Jingjue Mosque

One of the oldest mosques in southern China, dating back to the Ming dynasty, in the Confucius Temple area. Friday Jumu’ah prayer is held weekly. MTZ provides the nearest mosque address to the Jiangning campus and Wutai campus at the pre-departure briefing.

Prayer room on campus

Availability confirmed with MTZ before arrival. Pakistani students at NMU have informally arranged prayer space within the international dormitory during academic breaks for Maghrib and Isha.

Supermarket halal products

Major supermarkets in Nanjing stock halal-certified packaged foods (Qingzhen labelled). Pakistani community shops exist near the international dormitory areas.

Ramadan provisions

The campus Muslim canteen provides sehri and iftar meal options throughout Ramadan. The communal kitchen is available for home cooking. PSA organises communal iftar gatherings. The NMU international student office is briefed on Ramadan dates annually.

Affiliated Teaching Hospitals and Clinical Rotation at Nanjing Medical University

From Year 3, your child leaves the lecture hall and enters the ward. Nanjing Medical University runs clinical rotations at its own affiliated hospitals, not at rented clinical bases. 24 affiliated hospitals and 50+ teaching hospitals across Nanjing, Suzhou, Wuxi, Changzhou, Huaian, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Qingdao, plus one international teaching hospital in Indonesia form one of the widest clinical training networks of any MOE-listed Chinese medical university.

Refund Policy and Risk Flags, Read Before You Pay

Every family needs to understand what is refundable and what is not before any payment is made to Nanjing Medical University or to MTZ.

Application fee (CNY 500)

Non-refundable.

Non-refundable admission deposit (CNY 13,000)

Strictly non-refundable if your child gives up admission for personal reasons. CNY 12,500 counts toward Year 1 tuition if your child enrols. Per NMU 2026 brochure, students who fail to meet registration requirements at the time of registration and are disqualified from admission also forfeit the deposit. Read this twice before paying.

Tuition fee (CNY 34,000 per year)

Per NMU brochure, students who leave the university after paying tuition and accommodation may receive a partial refund per NMU Finance Department regulations. Mid-year withdrawals are generally non-refundable. Confirm with MTZ before any payment.

Hostel deposit

Refundable on proper checkout at year-end if no damage. Non-refundable if your child leaves without following NMU’s exit procedure.

X1 visa rejection

If rejection is due to MTZ file preparation error, MTZ resubmits at no extra charge. If rejection is due to applicant-side issues, resubmission is at cost.

MTZ service fee

Confirmed in writing to the family before any payment is made. No surprise charges. MTZ is SECP-registered.

Risk flags — read these before applying:

Age Limit (Strictly 25 Years)

Nanjing Medical University’s official age limit is 18 to 25 years at time of enrolment per the 2026 admission brochure. This is stricter than most Chinese medical universities (which typically allow up to 30). If your child is 25 or 26 at enrolment, NMU is not the right university and MTZ will redirect to a more flexible option.

60-Seat Cap and First-Come-First-Served

NMU caps English-medium MBBS at 60 international students per intake. Applications may close before 30 June if the cap is reached. MTZ recommends submitting the application no later than April 2026 for September 2026 entry. Late starts increase the risk of missing the cap regardless of MDCAT score.

Year 4 to 6 Wutai Off-Campus Accommodation Gap

This is the most important risk flag on this page. From Year 4 onwards, all classes move to Wutai campus. Wutai does not have international student hostel facilities. Your child must rent a private apartment near Wutai for Years 4, 5, and 6. Estimated rental cost CNY 15,000 to 24,000 per year per student (or CNY 1,250 to 2,000 per month for a shared apartment, more for a private unit). This adds approximately PKR 18L to 28.8L over the final three years versus a university hostel. MTZ assists with apartment location but the financial responsibility transfers to the family. Pakistani parents must factor this into the 6-year total cost decision before paying any deposit.

Document Quality

NMU requires clean colour-scanned documents, notarised high school graduation certificate and transcripts, and photographs with blue background. Mobile phone photographs of certificates are rejected. Use a proper flatbed scanner.

PMDC List Changes

PMDC recognition lists update periodically without advance notice. MTZ re-verifies PMDC status for every student before submission.

Confusion with Other Nanjing Universities

Nanjing Medical University (NMU/NJMU, 南京医科大学) is distinct from Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine (NJUCM, traditional Chinese medicine focus) and from Southeast University Medical School (SEU). Only NMU’s English-medium MBBS is the programme covered on this page. When verifying recognition at pmdc.pk, search specifically for ‘Nanjing Medical University’, not ‘Nanjing University’ or similar variants.

Scholarships for MBBS Students at Nanjing Medical University

Read this section carefully before any agent tells you a scholarship is guaranteed. MTZ’s position on scholarships is stated below in full, and it does not change based on what you want to hear.

SCHOLARSHIP POLICY: Some partner universities offer merit-based awards to high-performing MBBS students from their second year, based on academic performance — these are the university’s independent decisions and are not guaranteed at admission. MTZ Global Visa Consultants does not assure or guarantee scholarships for MBBS study in China. For fully funded MS and PhD scholarships, see our Global Scholarships hub.
Nanjing Medical University scholarship streams (factual, not guaranteed), per official NMU 2026 admission brochure:

Students receiving Jasmine Jiangsu Government Scholarship or Nanjing Government Scholarship are typically not eligible for NMU’s internal scholarship in the same year. The seat allocation for the two government scholarships is decided by Jiangsu and Nanjing governments respectively, not by NMU.

What MTZ Will Not Promise for Nanjing Medical University

Twenty-five years of placing Pakistani students at foreign medical universities has taught Mubbashir Qureshi exactly which promises consultants make to close a deal, and exactly which of those promises evaporate by Year 2. Here is what MTZ refuses to promise about Nanjing Medical University, and what MTZ does commit to, both in writing.

MTZ will not promise:

Admission is decided by Nanjing Medical University. MTZ prepares a strong, complete application file. The decision belongs to NMU’s School of International Education after the online interview, not to MTZ.
The 60-seat cap means timing matters as much as merit. MTZ submits early. Late submission risks missing the intake even with a strong file.
Fee increases are NMU’s decision. CNY 34,000 is the current published tuition. Universities revise fees. PKR costs move with the CNY-PKR exchange rate.
Year 4 to 6 Wutai rental cost is not under MTZ’s control. MTZ helps locate an apartment but the family pays the private landlord directly.
Academic performance belongs to your child. MTZ provides guidance throughout the 6 years. No consultant can guarantee pass rates, interview outcomes, or NLE outcomes.
No scholarship is guaranteed at admission. NMU awards scholarships based on annual academic rankings. The scholarship section above states MTZ’s position in full.
PMDC recognition lists change without notice. MTZ re-verifies before every placement.
Visa timelines depend on the Chinese Embassy and CVASC. Processing time is not in MTZ’s hands.

MTZ commits to:

PMDC recognition status for NMU is verified at pmdc.pk before every student placement, not from memory.
A full written fee breakdown in CNY and indicative PKR reaches your family before any payment is requested. The Year 4 to 6 Wutai rental cost is explicitly included in the breakdown.
MTZ remains reachable on WhatsApp Islamabad and Lahore for all 6 years of your child’s degree.
If the X1 visa file rejection was due to an MTZ preparation error, MTZ resubmits at no extra charge.
Every university on MTZ’s list is independently verified. NMU is PMDC-recognised, MOE-listed since 2007, WFME-aligned, and confirmed.
Your child’s apartment search for Year 4 onwards begins in Year 3, not in Year 4. MTZ briefs the family on the rental market 12 months before the transition.

Jiangning at 87 Hectares, Wutai at 8 Hectares, Both in Nanjing

Nanjing’s two-campus split is the single most operationally important fact for any Pakistani family looking at NMU. Years 1 to 3 happen on the 87-hectare Jiangning campus. Years 4 to 6 happen on the 8-hectare Wutai campus in central Nanjing. The two campuses are different worlds for a Pakistani student.

The Campus

Nanjing Medical University operates two campuses: Jiangning (the main and larger campus, 87 hectares, Years 1 to 3 international student teaching and dormitory) and Wutai (the older and smaller campus, 8 hectares, Years 4 to 6 clinical teaching). The Jiangning campus houses the School of International Education (SIE), MBBS teaching buildings for Years 1 to 3, international student dormitories, campus canteen including the Qingzhen halal section, sports facilities, libraries, and direct metro access to Nanjing city centre. The School of International Education manages all administrative matters for international students: enrolment, residence permits, student ID, scholarship applications, and welfare. From Year 4, all teaching moves to Wutai campus, which sits in central Nanjing. Wutai does not have international student dormitories, which is why students rent private apartments nearby.

The City, Nanjing, Jiangsu Province

Nanjing (Chinese: 南京) is the capital of Jiangsu Province and one of the four ancient capitals of China. Population approximately 9.4 million. Nanjing sits on the Yangtze River and is the most important transport, education, and cultural hub of the lower Yangtze Delta region. The city has a humid subtropical climate with four distinct seasons. Spring averages 10 to 20 degrees C. Summer averages 25 to 35 degrees C and is hot and humid. Autumn at 15 to 25 degrees C is the most comfortable season. Winter averages 0 to 8 degrees C. The city is well-served by Nanjing Metro (12 lines covering both campuses), DiDi, and city buses. Nanjing South Railway Station is the largest high-speed rail station in Asia and connects to Shanghai in 1 hour, Beijing in 4 hours. Nanjing Lukou International Airport (NKG) is approximately 45 minutes from Jiangning campus and operates direct flights to Dubai, Doha, Seoul, Bangkok, and major Chinese transit hubs for Pakistan routes.
For Pakistani families weighing Jiangsu MBBS Pakistan options for Pakistan-bound graduates, Nanjing offers the most extensive transport network and the deepest hospital ecosystem of any city in the province.
