When Does March Intake Make Sense — and When It Does Not
March intake makes sense when:
- Your FSc result came after July and you missed the September application window
- You sat MDCAT in a late sitting and received results after June
- Your passport or document attestation was delayed past the September deadline
- A family situation caused you to miss September — and you do not want to lose a full year
- The university you want does offer March intake and you have confirmed this with MTZ
March intake does NOT make sense when:
- Your target university is September-only — do not apply to an inferior university just to hit March. A 6-month wait for the right university is better than 6 years at the wrong one.
- You have not resolved your MDCAT status — resolve MDCAT before applying for any intake. Missing MDCAT affects NLE eligibility regardless of intake month.
- You are applying in panic after a September rejection — take a breath, reassess your university list with MTZ, and apply correctly for March.
- You have not received your FSc result yet — do not apply without your result in hand. No university will issue an admission letter without your academic transcripts.
Does March Intake Affect PMDC Recognition or NLE Eligibility?
No. PMDC recognition and NLE eligibility are determined by the university and programme — not the intake month. A student who starts in March 2027 at a PMDC-recognised university and completes their 5+1 year MBBS programme is fully eligible to sit NLE on return, the same as a September intake student.
